Position Summary:

The Lead, Security Operations role is to support and assist the Manager –Fleet and Port security with all shipboard and port security programs. The position will provide guidance, training, and support to the shipboard teams on all routine operational needs, regulatory and ISPS related requirements, and port terminal security matters, including administration of the security sections of the Safety Management System.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Lead and support the security program onboard RCL ships and in the associated terminal facilities.

Follow up and assist with the development and maintenance of ship security plans, equipment maintenance, turnaround reports, CCTV systems, locking plans and all other security related items.

Lead and supports port and terminal operation, with emphasis on identifying opportunities for improvement, challenges, and solutions.

Attend and participate in meetings with security organizations, vendors, consultants, and government authorities (e.g., FBI, CBP, Homeland Security, DEA, USCG).

Produce an annual training shipboard visit program to train the shipboard teams, coach newly promoted personnel, conduct compliance verification, and follow up on external/internal audit findings and corrective actions.

Prepares and submits a detailed report after each ship visit, the report will be forwarded to the Director and the Manager of Fleet and Port Security, Master, Staff Captain, and the Chief Security Officer.

Serve as the primary reviewer/editor for the Security section of the Safety Management System, which includes development, revising and updating of policies, processes, and procedures.

Assist in the development of shipboard security related training.

Serve as liaison with the Human Resources Department to provide thorough reviews and recommendations regarding the hiring and assigning of shipboard security staff.

Lead and support the shipboard scheduling and disposition plan working with HR schedulers to ensure PAR levels are completed and a solid succession structure is in place.

Participate in the development of long-range planning and objectives in the area of Security.

Support and assist with the development, planning and implementation of security systems during new build projects, including Ship Security Assessment and Ship Security Plan.

Assist in the development and implementation of the Global Security recruiting program for all onboard security positions.


Qualifications, Knowledge & Skills:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Industrial security, international business, criminology, or directly, related equivalent experience required

Experience in Aviation or Maritime industries preferred

Excellent and proven communication skills, both verbal and written are a must with special preference given to experience in multicultural environments with all levels of employees and management.

Minimum of three years of maritime operational security related experience is required; counter terrorism tactical experience in the maritime/aviation industries will be an advantage

Intermediate to advance reporting, data management and tracking software skills with platforms such as Excel, Smartsheet, PowerPoint, Word and SharePoint is required.

Ability to communicate diplomatically with leadership, shipboard, and shore-side employees to resolve problems and negotiate amicable resolution to challenging issues.

Proven organizational and time management skills.

Self-driven to continually improve and actively works to bridge gaps in their knowledge in order to add more value to a particular project or setting.

Innovative and process driven induvial who thrives in a start-up atmosphere rather than maintaining an already built system
