Held Rank of SNCO or WO in a sovereign armed force, or inspector on a para-military police force, or extensive APT experience.
Capable of leading and commanding the respect of a large body of men and women and be able to exercise discipline and the maintenance of high-performance standards
Progressive and relevant Operational Management experience, knowledge of APT operations and journey management in a hostile environment, preferably in Afghanistan
Knowledge of Authority Operations, client relationships and excellent client handling skills.
Possess tact, judgement and ability to communicate well, verbally and in writing
Experience of operating in semi-autonomous regions and ability to work in arduous conditions
Training delivery experience.
Strong communications and IT skills, including use of Excel Knowledge and experience of HR processes for the management of a large ethnically diverse team
Possess tact, sound judgement and ability to communicate clearly, verbally and in writing.
Fluent written and spoken English.
Duties of Role
The static Operations Manager is responsible for the management, training and control of the static personnel assigned to support the FCO British Embassy in Kabul. They are to ensure that the project members meet operational and training standards and fully comply with project SOPs. In addition to provide liaison with Authority and its clients for all daily operational issues related to static security. This role reports to OSM through Project Manager.
Main Accountabilities
Management
Full management accountability for operational aspects of delivery of the contract in Afghanistan
To oversee effective training in line with agreed training directives and priorities.
Maintenance of Authority standards during contract delivery.
Maintain management accountability/responsibility for all contract equipment.
Oversight and management of the EDD teams and searchers and supervising regular refresher training for these teams, as well as a weekly programme of fitness training
Coordinating all static infrastructure repairs requests.
Provide facilitation for all visitors to the British Embassy: processing of visitor requests and briefing guard force commander appropriately
Assist in coordinating and supervising security for VIP functions/ conferences and all other large social events at the Embassy. Including arrivals and departures of guests
Act as a Point of Contact for all British Embassy compound residents regarding visitor procedures and protocols.
Oversight of pass office, issuing of visitor access badges (under OSM supervision).
Be prepared to co-ordinate/ command incident response operations i.e. ICP, IDF cordon and clearance, internal security matters and deployment of the Embassy QRF and riot control.
All other tasks commensurate with appointment
Liaison
Maintain and build upon the operational and functional relationship with the client.
Establish and maintain relationships with neighbouring missions and organisations
Provide guidance to the client on security related matters as required.
Comply with all Authority reporting requirements.
Maintenance of client confidentiality across the contract.
Liaise with other agencies as required in support of contract delivery and operational requirements.
