Job Description (Roles and Responsibilities)
The British Embassy in Ankara is looking for a Post Security Manager to provide leadership and oversight of day to day security matters, reporting to and acting on behalf of the Regional Overseas Security Manager, on security matters for the Embassy, Consulates, and other properties including staff accommodation.
Responsabilities
Supervision of two Security Supervisors to ensure security of the Embassy compound; staff, families; and visitors to the Embassy.
Managerial oversight and thorough, effective, supervision of the Ankara Embassy’s Security Team (security guards) including Performance, Development, Resourcing and assisting in the Recruitment process.
Support deployment of Security staff to Consulates and Southern Turkey on Syria-related business.
Supervise and, where necessary, arrange maintenance of security fences, gates and other barriers.
Oversee control of access arrangements for staff, contractors and visitors.
Provide duty roster for the Security Supervisors, ensuring periodic patrols and security checks outside of normal working hours.
Assist DPSO in conducting periodical physical security checks of residences, including surveys before leasing.
Administration of the armoured vehicles, conduct checks in accordance with the Armoured Vehicle Policy.
Account for and be able to operate and arrange maintenance of security equipment, e.g. metal detectors; x-ray mail scanners.
Assist with visits by the Regional Overseas Security Manager and Overseas Security Advisers and lead on specific recommendations.
Responsible for overseeing emergency response drills and the operation of the digital radio, and CCTV systems.
Report and record any breaches of security and investigate and report any security related incidents.
Attend regular meetings of OSAC (Overseas Security Advisory Committee).
Co-ordinate/oversee works requests to the Corporate Services team for security equipment and infrastructure.
Liaise with Heads of Sections and colleagues to organise additional staff for special events when required.
Build strong relationships with Police, Law Enforcement and other Mission Security Managers
Act as Fire and Incident Manager taking responsibility for testing fire and emergency alarms on weekly basis; conducting emergency drills; In the event of an emergency/incident take responsibility for identifying the cause and resulting necessary action.
Essential qualifications, skills and experience
Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience in Security/Police/Military roles;
Ability to speak and write fluently in English;
Experience of managing a team;
Experience of collection and analysis of information, and report writing;
Full, clean driving licence;
Excellent, clear oral and written communication skills.
Desirable qualifications, skills and experience
Police/Security or Military background;
Understanding of the security environment in Turkey;
Training Delivery experience;
Relevant IT experience, including MS Office(Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
