Scope of work
The Regional Security Adviser (RSA) will work with the iMMAP team to ensure the safety and security of all staff contracted to projects throughout the Middle East. Currently iMMAP has projects in Jordan, Iraq, Syria, and Yemen.
The primary functions of the RSA are to manage the Country Security Advisers and Field Security Officers and provide advice to the Regional Director and Country Directors. The RSA will monitor and assess security conditions, and make recommendations to the Regional Director, Country Directors and the Global Security Manager as appropriate.
The RSA is committed to implementing and maintaining the highest standards of security measures and contingency planning in order to ensure the safety of all staff.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
RESPONSIBILITIES
The RSA will monitor and oversee the security situation in the countries of operations and provide advisories when security events could potentially affect staff or operations. This includes specific events, forecasts as well as strategic developments.
The RSA manages the Country Security Advisers and Field Security Officers throughout the Middle East, liaise with them on a daily basis and will provide technical advice when required.
The RSA will liaise and coordinate timely and efficiently with the Global Security Manager regarding security incidents, threats or deficiencies which potential could affect operations. Additionally, the RSA will liaise and coordinate with the Security Coordinator regarding travel management, tracking and other security admin questions.
The RSA will conduct threat, vulnerability and risk assessments, provide sound and timely advice to staff and management on safety and security matters, and oversees staff compliance with security and safety procedures.
The RSA will ensure the implementation of and compliance with safety and security policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs) as detailed by the Global Security Manager
The RSA will develop, and update as required the Project Security Plans for the applicable programs whilst ensuring compliance with iMMAP’s global operating principles and risk management policies.
The RSA will assist the Global Security Manager with the development of SOP’s and protocols.
The RSA will maintain a broad network of contacts within the INGO, IO, and broader security stakeholders’ community which will enable iMMAP access to timely and trustworthy information related to security conditions in its project locations.
In case of a crisis, the RSA will act as a member of the Crisis Management Team or the Incident Management Team respectively.
The RSA will create a weekly security report.
The RSA will conduct security induction briefs for new staff.
The RSA will maintain the validity of emergency & contingencies protocols based on the applicable E&C level and will design and practice emergency communication protocols.
REPORTING, MONITORING AND EVALUATION
The RSA will report directly to the Global Security Manager.
REPRESENTATION
Maintain effective and positive internal contacts with iMMAP in country associates, officers and staff, and external contacts with national and local government officials, international non-governmental organizations (NGOs), donor agency officials, vendors, media, and the general public.
Follow iMMAP's branding regulations required for marking, or branding, of all iMMAP products and correspondence.
ACCOUNTABILITY TO BENEFICIARIES
iMMAP team members are expected to support all efforts toward accountability, specifically to beneficiaries of iMMAP programs, and to international standards guiding international relief and development work while actively engaging beneficiary communities as equal partners in the design, monitoring and evaluation of field projects.

Any other duties as required. Qualifications
Degree in a relevant field required, minimum of a bachelor’s degree. Master’s degree or other professional degree desired.
Considerable practical experience of managing security in complex contexts and high-risk environments;
A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience working in the safety and security sector.
Previous experience working in international non-governmental organization preferred;
Strong organizational skills;
Ability to interact effectively with international and national personnel;
Excellent oral and written English;
Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret and analyse data and translate into effective information.
Ability to work well in a multi-cultural team, operate under pressure, deliver high quality work within deadlines, and meet team objectives.
Ability to provide a clear Criminal Record Check.
If a previous member of Armed Forces or Police Service – ability to provide honourable discharge papers.
