Main purpose of job:
Supervise a shift of between 4- 6 contract guards.
Provide training of local contract guards in Embassy security procedures.
Liaise with management of the contract guard company.
Liaise with local Diplomatic Police.
To supervise local guard and security resources.
Control goods in and out of the Embassy.
Escort staff when necessary.
Assist Post Security Manager.
Roles and responsibilities:
The protection of compound’s premises, assets, personal and visitors are the key priority of Embassy. As a key member of the Embassy Security Supervisor will be responsible for supervising the security guards on site. Ensure that all officers reporting for duty on the site are suitably trained for the duties allocated to them.
You will ensure that all officers are fully supported by regular coaching to achieve the standards required in full uniform in accordance with the standards for appearance.
As a site supervisor you will be a key conduit for the communication between local guards, visitors and managers and as such you are accountable for ensuring that all matters relating to service delivery are communicates to all in line with established communication procedures.
You will also be accountable for ensuring that critical threat / incidents escalation procedures are known to all officers on the site and that critical threat / incident response procedures are up to date and fully communicated. Ensure that level of officer’s knowledge and awareness is regularly tested.
Your performance and that of the team of officers you supervise must meet or exceed the expectations of Embassy and stakeholders. That will be achieved by demonstrating a proactive and alert officer compliment at all times.
As a Security supervisor you will monitor staff and material by register and patrolling, including the electronic surveillance equipment used on the premises. Each day the supervisor assigns areas for his officers to patrol and presents a list of potential problems his officers should be on the lookout for.
If someone is caught trespassing or committing another crime, the supervisor oversees the transfer of the accused person to the custody of local law enforcement personnel.
The supervisor works with staff to develop safety plans for the buildings he monitors. He leads periodic safety drills for employees and patrons in the business.
You and your team will implement your conflict resolution training in times of crisis and do everything within your legal rights and with due care and attention to personal safety and the safety of others to resist any unauthorised or hostile entry to the site.
Essential qualifications and experience
Basic experience in Security (regarding Security of surroundings, Security in Country, Security while travelling, etc
Desirable qualifications and experience
IT experience.
Team work.
Fluent Portuguese
Fluent English

You will be assigned a mentor whose main focus will be to support you in learning your new role. Your line manager will also support you from the onset.
