CH2M HILL Director of Risk Management Careers – Expatriate – Afghanistan

Our Director of Risk Management position provides you with an opportunity to work in direct support of the LOGCAP – Afghanistan Program Manager and be the leader for our risk management team in Afghanistan. Each day you will be responsible for providing support & guidance to the program’s risk
managers; oversee the program’s risk identification and treatment policies, strategies, processes, and procedures; as well as function as the program’s sole independent assessor of employed risk-based management practices.You must be a strong leader, self-motivated, energetic and an excellent oral and written communicator with at least 5 years of increasing assignments on international projects. The ideal candidate will preferably have a Masters degree, at least 10 years of progressive project responsibility with a portion leading at the Program level, knowledge of Primavera Risk Analysis software, PMP certification, RMP certification, experience working overseas on U.S. Government contracts, and have a desire to grow personally as well as professionally.

Our Director of Risk Management is a proactive and effective communicator responsible for:
Team building and working across multiple functional lines to solve problems effectively Identification, analysis of probability and impact, management, and tracking of program risks, recommended responses, and contingency plans
Quantitative and qualitative assessment of risk impacts and probabilities
Providing guidance to and oversight of the risk management team
Charting the course of the risk program in support of the project
Ability to write and/or lead the completion of “white papers” and business cases for extensive risk mitigation strategies and implementation plans
Developing, reviewing, and auditing processes, procedures, and plans Implementing program risk management procedures
Performing subcontractor risk reviews
Developing probabilistic projections of program cost and schedule performance
Conducting miscellaneous analyses (Cost/Benefit, ROI, etc.)
Tracking of “At-Risk” work
Preparing weekly and monthly risk assessments reports and briefing status to executive leadership
Working closely with the Project Manager and effectively interfacing with the Client
Providing continuity for a multi-year program
Utilize Microsoft Excel at a intermediate level or better, effectively utilizing an excel based risk register and conducting data analysis

Additional Information:
Position will require a CAC card and Secret security clearance (or ability to obtain); to meet this requirement only U.S. citizens can be considered
Successful background check, drug test, and physical are required for this role
Living conditions in Afghanistan are austere, will live and work in remote field locations
Assignment requires a 1 year commitment


Basic Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Engineering, Project Management, Risk Management or other related technical degree;
Master’s degree preferred
PMI Risk Management Professional (PMI-RMP) or equivalent certification or degree;
PMP or other project management certification a bonus
A minimum of 10 yrs of experience as a dedicated project/risk specialist, with a minimum of 5 years overseas experience
Ability to demonstrate advanced knowledge and experience with MS Excel (Intermediate level or higher) and all other MS Office software suite products


Degree Required : Bachelors or 4 Year Degree

Preferred Years of Experience :10+
