Chemonics seeks a deputy country security director to oversee security planning, procurement, evaluation, implementation, and monitoring of our projects based in Afghanistan. The director will provide security direction, including policy, plans, and guidelines for staff and direct project security providers to ensure compatibility, clarity, best practices, and compliance regarding the projects’ objectives. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.
Responsibilities include:
Ensure the provision of quality control/quality assessment of the risk management company subcontractor
Report to the country security director on compliance with contractual obligations
Ensure implementation of security policies, procedures, and programs, involving areas that include local national security, staff training, medical emergency preparedness, acquisition and implementation, emergency communications, and lessons learned and Mobile Security Team best practices
Support upcoming Chemonics projects in Afghanistan with security reconnaissance, planning, resourcing, and ground-truthing
Qualifications:
Demonstrated experience integrating gender considerations into security platforms
More than 10 years of experience in executive protection, counter-surveillance, security management, and oversight with the duties and responsibilities described above; experience with the U.S. Secret Service or similar protective service agency strongly preferred
Work experience in Afghanistan and/or Islamic countries strongly desired
Minimum three years of program management experience within the private security sector or risk management sector
Demonstrated experience supporting USAID or Department of Defense programs preferred
Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred; master’s degree highly desired
Fluency in English required; Dari or Pashto proficiency preferred
