This position directs development and implementation of policies, standards, programs and procedures to ensure security of company personnel, contractors, visitors, and physical property.
Key Responsibilities:
Defines strategic goals and operational objectives for enterprise security function, including loss of company property, antiviolence, contractor background verification, facilities access management, executive security and compliance with all security regulations. Develops and implements policies, standards, guidelines and procedures engaging business unit management to ensure concerns are adequately addressed. Establishes security conditions (using national threat advisory system) and specific protective measures based on threat level. Participates in emergency management and contingency planning.
Continuously monitors effectiveness of enterprise security plans and operations. Leads on-going risk assessments, criminal investigations and on-site audits to identify exposures, threats and vulnerabilities. Identifies likelihood and consequence of such events. Formulates and institutes risk mitigation measures ensuring compliance with governmental regulations for petroleum, maritime and transportation industries.
Serves as Tesoro’s primary liaison with the Dept. of Homeland Security, public law enforcement, fire and other agencies on security issues. Cultivates and maintains positive, working relationships with agencies and industry representatives.
Establishes and implements effective physical and personal security awareness, training and education programs.
Directs activities of enterprise-wide security organization. Manages staff in accordance with corporate HR policies and procedures. Oversees network of vendors/contractors. Leads and/or participates in Business Conduct Office investigations.
Manages Corporate Security budget. Exercises financial stewardship to control expenditures.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
Minimum undergraduate degree in criminal justice, law enforcement, security or related discipline. Minimum 15 years of civilian and/or government security experience in progressively responsible roles including management experience.
