Security and Logistics Support Officer War Child, London

This role is crucial to the review and development of War Child’s security management. Our security management is the framework through which access to the children we exist to serve is achieved. This is particularly important as we manage our way through a period of sustained growth.

Job Description
2.1 Security
o Security Focal Point for Field Staff while in the UK office
o Ensure the Global Security Policy is being utilised and understood by all staff members (in-country and in the UK office)
o Ensure Country Security Plans are up to date
o Assist Country Directors in preparing and maintaining security briefs for each country programme
o Produce security analysis for each country programme
o When required perform and follow up needs assessments and feasibility studies for responding to new child protection needs
o Represent the organisation in relevant external forum

2.2 Logistics
o Being the focal point for all logistics related matters
o Implement procedures and processes (major purchases, fleet, storage, equipments), and ensure they are well understood and respected
o Provide logistics guidance and advice to support and programme staff to ensure a smooth programme implementation
o Responsible for the effective and appropriate overall allocation of the equipments
o Supervise the effective compilation of the inventory equipment list on a regular basis
o Procure or provide assistance with security communications equipment, ensuring all relevant details are logged
o Support and development of supply chain function (procurement, asset management)
o Identify and roll out a Standardisation programme
o Responsible for identifying, promoting compliance with good practice and War Child policies, procedures and systems
o Develop logistic procedures in cooperation with Programme Director and Finance Director within donor rules and disseminating these to enhance the efficiency and cost effectiveness
o Monitor and enhance logistic procedures in programmes through field visits, giving advice and training, ensuring that programme staff follow War Child and donor rules, guidelines and good practice
o Develop and document a training syllabus and provide training materials in procurement and asset management
o Take part in the recruitment and selection of Programme (Field) Logistics Officers
o Oversee the Asset Register, ensuring that it is up to date and coherent with Programme logistics asset lists, with all UK-supplied assets
o Responsible for training all UK Staff and supporting Field Training in technical equipment usage (VHF, Sat Phone, etc.)

2.3 General
o Give security briefing to any staff member or individual travelling to any work related location
o Assist with London based logistics (ie: asset registers) as required

Contractual Terms
o Position: Fixed term Contract of 6 months with possible extension based on funding
o Salary: £26,500 - 29,500 p.a. (gross, dependent on experience)
o Working Hours: Full time, 37.5 hours per week
o Travel: May include travel to War Child country locations, as required
o Probation: 3 months
o Leave: 28 days p.a. (pro-rated)
