ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The tactical communications specialist will provide technical expertise (including installation, planning and operation), for tactical communications systems. The tactical communications specialist will be responsible for advising the Program Manager and/or client on technological and system security issues affecting communications capabilities. Assist in the identification of evolving technologies, systems, and applications and provide expertise in acquisition planning, lifecycle costs, and system integration requirements necessary to procure, render operational and provide life cycle support to the specified technology based systems and projects. The tactical communications specialist is responsible for the following: installation, planning and operation of two-way radios, radio base stations, microwave and satellite systems; installation and operation of portable, mobile, and/or fixed station communication systems.
REQUIRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
Candidates will be familiar with, but not limited to, the following systems/communications applications: Army Navy/Portable Radio Communication (AN/PRC)-117F, High Performance Waveform (HPW), AN/PRC-148, AN/PRC-150, AN/PRC-152, STE's, VTC, routers, networks, antennas, XTS-3000/5000s,communications security (COMSEC), digital intelligence collection devices (video and still imagery), tactical repeaters, situation awareness, and Department of Defense (DOD) and other government agencies communication planning. Candidates will be able to carry communications equipment in a backpack configuration of up to 70 pounds for indefinite periods. Candidates will have a minimum of four years of telecommunications experience; have participated in joint military or law enforcement operations, and demonstrated experience with the operational procedures used for tactical operations centers (TOC) or equivalent operational centers. Candidates will have completed a DOD component telecommunications school and/or equivalent civilian electronic technician training course.
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Military special operations tactical communications experience is highly desired.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
The candidate will possess or have the ability to obtain a Top Secret (TS) security clearance.
