Duty Station: Middle East Position title: Police Physical Training and Defensive Tactics Instructor
Duration: 2 months, Approx. 2 May – 4 July 2011

CTG Global are supporting a UN agency strengthen the capacity of a Middle Eastern Police Force through the provision of train the trainer training for the Police Force’s college Instructors.
General functions:
1) Develop and deliver a train the trainer course to the Police Colleges Physical Fitness Instructors that will enable them to test applicants and instruct recruits and active members on how to meet the set physical fitness standards and assist them in meeting their fitness objectives. The Train the Trainer course will include an overview of wellness and how the instructors can assist new and existing Police officers to attain and maintain a state of wellness post recruit training.
2) Develop and deliver a train the trainer courses a Police Defensive Tactics course according to the use of force employed by the Police force being trained. Those being trained need to be instructed on the use of force guidelines and techniques that emphasize the appropriate levels of force guidelines and use of force options given the situational factors faced by officers and the legal framework they operate in.
3) Develop an assessment tool to determine if the student has demonstrated the required knowledge, skills, abilities and behaviours to a pre-determined standard.
Desirable Qualifications and Skills:
Former Member of a European Police Force.
Accredited Physical Fitness and Defensive Tactics Instructor.
Previous experience as a Physical Fitness curriculum developer in a policing environment.
Previous experience as a Defensive tactics Instructor in a policing environment.
Train the Trainer experience is an asset.
Experience of delivering training through interpreters or to other nationalities is an asset.
Knowledge and experience of cross training with Defensive Tactics.
Experience in Developing Baseline Fitness Requirements.
Experienced in delivering Basic Recruit Fitness Training and continuation fitness training for existing members.
Knowledge and experience of Defensive Tactics Curriculum.
Knowledge and experience of cross training with Physical Fitness.
Experience in developing Defensive Tactics Curriculum.
Capable of developing use of force guidelines and techniques and understanding the appropriate use of force.
Personal/Interpersonal Skill required
Stamina, determination, commitment, efficiency and adaptability
Excellent communication skills
High level of integrity, professionalism and personal qualities that can effectively ensure an optimum level of performance.

Working Conditions
Ability to work effectively and harmoniously under pressure in a stressful environment and with colleagues from varied cultures and professional backgrounds. The candidate will be part of a 4 person training team.
Languages
Spoken and written English fluency is essential. Working knowledge of Arabic an advantage.
