The Safety Advisor leads INSO’s operations in Qamishli and serves as the primary liaison with humanitarian actors in Northeast Syria. The role focuses on monitoring the security environment, producing high‑quality analysis, offering operational advice, and ensuring the effective running of the field office. The position combines security analysis, NGO engagement, and management of a multi‑disciplinary team to ensure the relevance, accuracy, and consistency of INSO services.

Monitor and interpret security developments affecting humanitarian operations in Northeast Syria.
Produce information products, including alerts, incident reports, briefs, and thematic reports.
Provide contextual and operational advice to NGOs.
Deliver security briefings.
Identify trends and communicate implications for humanitarian actors.
Base Leadership and Management (Head of Base)
Produce information products, including alerts, incident reports, briefs, and thematic reports.

Oversee daily operations of the Qamishli field office.
Supervise and mentor national team staff.
Maintain the quality and consistency of INSO analytical products.
Ensure strong SOPs, verification protocols, and M&E systems.
Coordinate with senior management.
Promote staff wellbeing and principled engagement.
NGO Engagement and Coordination

Maintain a broad and active network of contacts, including NGOs, UN agencies, local authorities, community representatives and other relevant actors.
Facilitate regular security coordination meetings and roundtables for the NGO community.
Ensure that INSO services respond to the operational needs and priorities of humanitarian organisations in the area.
Represent INSO and uphold the organisation’s principles of independence, neutrality and impartiality in all engagements.

5+ years of professional experience in the humanitarian sector, including work with international NGOs.
Proven writing, editing, and analytical skills and the keenest eye for detail.
Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
Significant experience in insecure/conflict-affected environments.
Previous experience in senior field-level humanitarian roles, such as Field Coordinator/Security Manager/Security Advisor/Head of Base/Programme Manager with operational responsibilities
Personal and professional resilience in a fast-moving, high-output, quality-driven program.
Ability to operate and sustainably manage staff and teams under strict systems and deadlines.
Well-developed personal, organisational and team management skills and standards in a diverse multicultural setting.
Demonstrable understanding of humanitarian safety practices and principles.
Graduate-level education in a relevant field or equivalent work experience.
Nice to Have:
Proven writing, editing, and analytical skills and the keenest eye for detail.
Fluency in English, both written and spoken.

Terms & Conditions

€5000 per month salary, 4 calendar days annual leave per month and 7 days of R&R every 3 months with a €1000 R&R allowance each cycle, global medical coverage (excluding USA) and AD&D insurance.
