Job Summary

You will explore local dynamics and develop an understanding of what is relevant to NGOs seeking to inform strategic decision-making and programming. You will be outgoing and resilient, with the ability to analyse complex issues and contexts, give practical safety and security advice, and share INSO’s commitment to humanitarian principles.
This position is based in Kyiv City with frequent travel to multiple areas in Ukraine and reports to the Deputy Director.

Travel extensively in Ukraine and develop an understanding of the different regions, enabling countrywide and comparative reporting and analysis.
Cover for other safety advisors and provide surge capacity as needed.
Build capacity for other colleagues, as needed.
Provide NGOs with safety information and contextual analysis of the operating environment through alerts and analytical reports.
Assist NGOs in developing their own safety management capacities by reviewing policy documents, conducting site surveys, and assisting in crisis planning.
Effectively represent, promote and protect INSO’s mandate of independence, impartiality and neutrality.

Essential:

Experience in conflict and post-conflict environments.
Personal and professional resilience in a fast moving, high output, quality-driven program.
Experience in the humanitarian, and/or risk management and/or humanitarian access sectors.
Independent drive, motivation, and excellence, and ability to operate and sustainably manage staff under strict systems and deadlines.
Well-developed personal, organisational, and management skills and standards in a diverse multi-cultural setting.
Demonstrable understanding of humanitarian safety practices and principles.
Commitment to humanitarian principles and values.
Graduate level education in a relevant field or equivalent work experience.
Nice to Have:Prior experience in an inter-agency role.
Prior experience in Ukraine.
Local language skills.
Experience with NGO security and/or project management.

12-month renewable contract, €4,550 per month salary, €1,200 monthly housing allowance, 4 calendar days annual leave per month and 7 days of R&R every 3 months, global medical coverage (excluding USA), $200,000 AD&D coverage. The expected start date is 01 November 2023.
