Position Summary
The role of the Team Leader is to manage and administer such personnel and resources as may be assigned to a particular team in the context of the contract between the Company and its client such that the contracted service is provided safely, reliably, on budget and in accordance with policies, procedures and standards made known to the Team Leader.
The Team Leader supervises the performance of a team of personal security detail (“PSD”) in a hostile environment. This requires the Team Leader to take full responsibility for the operational preparation, rotational staffing and leadership of a PSD team that may include Expatriate, Host Country National (“HCN”) and Other Country National (“OCN”) personnel.
The Team Leader will have sufficient experience of command and control of security operations in remote and hostile environments to be able to achieve the mission, which is to fulfil the terms of the Olive Group contract with its Client. This will require complete responsibility for assigned personnel, equipment, for associated governance and for effective client liaison. This position is located in Basra, Iraq.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Must be able to provide solid leadership, guidance and advice on all issues relating to security supervisor level security operations
Able to work in isolation under stressful conditions in close proximity to local national personnel
Be able to command respect and engender support from all levels, including other Olive Group personnel, clients and local community members
Be able to establish effective and relaxed communications with clients, local nationals and their team
Be firm but approachable and be a competent instructor
Be able to anticipate operational requirements whilst being aware of the budgetary limitations of commercial contracting. Have the ability to forward plan for future operations and anticipate the evolving risk landscape.
Be able to relate to and engender the trust of the local National Team and clients. Must be able to deal with, on a daily basis, the administrative requirements of the Team. Be able to express a firm opinion in a calm, polite and concise manner even in high risk and high pressure circumstances
Display enthusiasm and a determination to succeed

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of 5 years’ service in a regular army, reaching a minimum rank of senior noncommissioned officer and with at least 2 years in that position; and
Minimum 1 year in the private security sector (Desirable), or other commercial sector (such as health & safety, or oil & gas) with similar characteristics and challenges; or
Satisfactory completion of a recognized leadership course
Satisfactory completion of a criminal record check within the recent 12 months
Previous operational experience relevant to the region
Previous operational experience in a high threat environment
Previous operational experience in the client’s sector (e.g. Oil & Gas) is preferred
Hold an SIA License
Qualified to level 3 or above in Trauma First Aid (FREC/FPOS)

WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is based in an austere environment, typical schedules range between 10-12 hours per day, 7 days per week while on rotation.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be required to satisfactorily complete pre-deployment medical requirement. May be required to lift and carry awkward items weighing up to 50 lbs. Requires intermittent standing, walking, sitting, squatting, stretching and bending throughout the workday.
