Job Description (Roles and Responsibilities)
Main purpose of job:Lead and manage the security team; be the first point of contact for all security matters at Post as well as oversee and manage protective security systems, equipment and procedures.
Provide insights around key security issues, risks and opportunities for improvement.
Monitor and analyse the security situation in Belize, produce briefings and highlight trends, risks and threats.

Roles and responsibilities:

Security Management, advice and supportManage and directly supervise the High Commission security team.
Ensure processes and procedures for perimeter management and visitor/resident access to the High Commission and Residence compound are followed and updated to address ongoing and new risks. Ensure all visitors or contractors are supervised constantly.
Conduct periodic security checks at both compounds (including outside normal hours where necessary), reporting any anomalies to the Post Security Officer.
Maintain the security equipment inventory and ensure that all security equipment/uniforms are issued and maintained correctly.
Ensure that all relevant maintenance of equipment is forecasted through Estates Management.
Report and record any breaches of security.
Liaise with the Police Department for all high profile events to ensure adequate security measures are in place as required.
Lead on security clearances for country based staff including facilitating Police record checks where required (vetting/security clearances etc).
Ensure that weekly tests of the incident and bomb alarms are carried out and recorded as necessary.
Ensure that the security team examine all incoming mail, utilising the mail scanner equipment.
Be responsible for ensuring that the operation and maintenance of the CCTV system is carried out correctly.
Ensure that the security team is adequately trained and receives development opportunities as required.
Act as Secretariat to the Post Security Committee.

Security Analysis 
Analyse the security situation in Belize, including monitoring trends and identifying any threats / risks.
Develop and maintain relationships in the security community including police, BDF and other diplomatic missions.
Produce monthly security sitrep which includes Post comments / views / trends.
Provide general advice and induction briefs on physical and procedural security matters within Belize and at the High Commission.
Keep abreast of local news and report any items of security significance promptly to the PSO.
Prepare reports on matters of security interest, including incident returns to Estates, Security & Network Directorate.
Regular security briefings to members of staff.

Administration
Prepare and produce all annual reports for the security team.
Manage and maintain the local security budget.
Manage and maintain the security team roster, ensuring that all security positions are filled as required, all leave (annual and sick) periods are covered and provide accurate and timely advice to the PSO of any problems.
Prepare and distribute reports on matters of security interest including daily/weekly security incident reports.

Desirable qualifications, skills and experience
Former Officer/Senior Non Commissioned Officer (SNCO) in the military or Police
Knowledge of Spanish would be an asset
