Job Description
The Security Manager is required to embrace and promote the Global Security mission. The scope of this role is to cover all Kinross facilities and activities within Mauritania, including Tasiast, Nouakchott, and any other areas. While maintaining the desired level of security system effectiveness, the Security manager will be responsible for developing security programs enabling the site and its ongoing expansion projects to be in full compliance with the Global Security Standardization Program (GSSP). The position will report operationally to the Director, Global Security Operations, and administratively to the Vice President and General Manager Tasiast.
Job Responsibilities
Manage all day-to-day tactical and strategic security elements of Kinross Mauritania sites and associated properties.This covers the Tasiast mine site and surrounding Kinross concessions, and any and all security planning in those areas
Nouakchott security presence and plans for all Kinross properties, guest house, offices, residencies, bus station, etc
Security oversite of air transportation and ground transportation
Serves as a security advisor for the site and country activities
All other Mauritania security programs
Serves as a security business partner to all other Kinross Mauritania departments and gives oversight and guidance where deemed necessary
Ensures mine site security operations align with the Global Security Standardization ProgramEnsure Global Security strategies are being correctly implemented and followed at the site
Responsible for reporting to Global Security sites self-assessments and corrective actions on annual audit data to improve the effectiveness of the site’s security system.
Liaise with Process Department on a regular basis to improve security in the gold room and on the gold circuits.
Liaise with Project managers regularly to reach the highest industrial security standards regarding gold security.
Develop continuous exercises and performance tests designed to measure the effectiveness of the security systems deployed to mitigate the gold theft risk.
Obtain a good understanding of gold production processes and be able to locate vulnerable areas in the gold circuit in order to implement appropriate security measures capable of mitigating the risks of theft
Professionally develop and train national employees in gold security procedures.
Develop a succession plan to include national employees.
Security support for Process Plant Department at Tasiast
Advise site leadership on gold theft risk mitigation strategies and security solutions.
Personnel safety/security plans and awareness training.
Collaborate with the SOC team concerning anomalies occurring during gold pours, maintenance of equipment, movement of GBM, etc.
Collaborate with Global Security to advance gold security integration within the Process Plant department.
Oversight of supply chain security program.
Develop an access control system that is consistent with the mine site, Nouakchott office, and guest house requirements.
Provide assistance and interfaces with other Kinross mine security leads.
Guard force Management Determine security force personnel and training requirements.
Oversee security guard force management, including SRT (security response team)
Manage the contract management relationship and commercial terms with security contractors
Develop a Security Operations Control Center program.

Education and Experience
Minimum of ten (10) years of industrial security or infrastructure protection experience.
Excellent understanding of gold mining processes.
Minimum of five (5) years of experience in gold mining security.
Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, security management, industrial security, or related field.
Experience executing security programs and initiatives in developing countries.
Minimum of ten (10) years of experience within the security, military, or law enforcement community.
Understanding of host government public security forces and their roles when providing assistance.
Able to articulate well, with excellent presence when briefing management on security program plans and activities.
Excellent written and speaking communication skills at all levels of management.
Ability to effectively deal with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
Able to review, analyze, and extract data from various sources.
A persuasive, and articulate leader who is able to communicate security-related concepts to a broad range of individuals with a technical background.
Proficient in the use of computers and other communications devices including MS Office package.
Able to function independently, under pressure, and perform multiple security duties with minimal supervision or guidance.
Skills
Well-developed incident report writing and presentation skills.
ASIS Certified Protection Professional (CPP) would be a plus.
Demonstrated experience with project management techniques or related skills.
Experience in developing, forecasting, and managing budgets.
Strong communications skills.
Must speak English. French or Arabic is seen as an asset.
Business continuity and/or crisis management experience.
