Our team is looking to bring on an Intelligence Analyst to support a global energy sector client with operations in Senegal and Mauritania. The Intelligence Analyst will coordinate directly with the Client's security stakeholders to support the collection, analysis and effective dissemination of operational intelligence to support security and political risk management in the business.
To achieve this, the Intelligence Analyst will maintain an effective information collection network, generate a range of reports to alert key personnel of relevant threats to security and business activity in Mauritania and Senegal, and lead on local incident and trend analysis to assist security and business activities in Mauritania and Senegal.
The position will be based in the client’s office in Dakar, with travel required between Senegal and Mauritania as required. The successful candidate will report to the client’s Africa Senior Intelligence Manager, with daily interactions with and direct tasking also coming from West Africa Senior Security Manager & security operations managers. Training, coordination and information support will be provided by Control Risks’ in-house analytical team based in our Dakar office.Collect, analyse and effectively disseminate relevant security information to support the intelligence-led decision-making process.
Work with the client’s Communications and Advocacy team in support of the management of non-technical risks inside Mauritania and Senegal.
Maintain a regular and ad hoc cycle of thematic reports to monitor current and emerging security and political trends and issues to support long term security and business objectives.
Manage of information databases to ensure long term trends can be effectively monitored and presented.
Ensure relevant threat information is communicated to the security team in a timely manner.
Effectively manage and continually adjust an information collection network. This will require maintaining an awareness of Mauritania and Senegal cultures and key social activities, to effectively manage information collection activity and local contact network.
Remain proactive in the identification of potential threats to business activity and the presentation of this information in written reports and verbal briefings.
Maintain a strong understanding of security and political events in Mauritania and Senegal and the immediate region and how they impact the oil and gas sector.

Requirements
Essential

Graduate degree (or equivalent) in relevant discipline.
Ability to understand and communicate to a high professional standard in English and French.
Knowledge of West Africa (politics, history, culture, security, regional context).
An understanding of the intelligence cycle and its application in a commercial environment.
Previous experience in an analytical environment supporting real time operational activity.
Previous experience developing and/or modifying information requirements for internal stakeholders
Experience with open-source intelligence tools and techniques, mapping and/or intelligence/information management systems
Preferred:
Knowledge of Wolof is strongly desired. Knowledge of Arabic is a plus.
Previous energy sector experience or similar environment an advantage, but not essential.Competencies
