This position is in the Regional Security Office (RSO). The incumbent assists the RSO in performing a variety of investigative and security liaison functions. Daily supervision and tasks shall be assigned by the post RSO or his/her designee. The RSO Security Liaison is responsible for assisting the RSO in establishing and maintaining effective liaison with host nation security and law enforcement elements to include government, police, airport, and businesses.

Major Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

- Assist RSO in maintaining liaison with local law enforcement and security agencies
- Provides routine formal and informal reporting on security/law enforcement issues with the host country.
- Assist in maintaining effective liaison with host nation security to coordinate protection of U.S. government facilities and personnel. This includes travel throughout the country to provide support to Chief of Mission trips.
- Assist in security coordination for visiting U.S. government dignitaries, to include liaison with host nation security for protection and administrative requests.
- Serves as a liaison between RSO and U.S. Federal Law Enforcement Agencies having protective responsibilities and with local Russian authorities in support of official U.S. protective operations (DSS and USSS, etc.).
- Assist RSO in security planning for major events, with a focus on host nation support and coordination requirements.
- Office Russian Linguist- translates, interprets, and helps with tasks requiring Russian language proficiency. Assists RSO with unannounced visitor screening and manages unsolicited mail database, identifying any threats to the mission and its personnel.
- Monitors Russian-language open-source media and social media reporting for incidents and events that impact the safety and security of Chief of Mission personnel and facilities.
- Track security incidents such as crime, protests, and surveillance of U.S. government facilities and submit reports on those incidents into unclassified databases.
- Assists RSO with Emergency Action Planning, and serves on RSO Emergency security teams i.e., evacuations, intruders, and nuclear/chemical/biological response teams.
- Assist embassy personnel with all access-related issues.
- Assists in cleared American escort responsibilities for Classified Pouch and secure construction materials shipments, to include container pouch run escort outside of Moscow as assigned.
- TDY travel may be required to support RSO during major events.
- Serves as backup for the Access Control Coordinator, responsible for verifying access requirements and clearances and producing U.S. embassy badges.
- Assist RSO and ARSO-I with U.S. visa and passport fraud investigations as necessary.
- Other administrative and security-related duties as assigned.



Qualifications

- Must be 21 years of age or older, have completed secondary school or obtained a GED, and possess a valid driver's license. Must be able to type or keyboard at least 40 WPM and be familiar with word processing, spreadsheets, and databases. Must have at least two years of general office experience and prefer candidate with experience interviewing. A BA or BS degree may be substituted for work experience requirement. Must have the ability to obtain a U.S. Government issued Top Secret security clearance and possess a 3/3 level in Russian.
