Job Summary

Responsible for the support of AUTEC’s mission by developing, implementing, promoting and managing the company explosive Safety Program that complies explosive safety standards for the AUTEC Project.

Essential Responsibilities:

Oversight of the company Explosive Safety programs in accordance with US Navy Explosive Safety manuals, instructions and operating procedures.
Provide oversight over the weapons handling qualifications program.
Conduct routine ammunition magazine and grounds inspections.
Conducting routine grounding and bonding inspections to ensure compliance with establish US Navy Facility requirements.
Maintain Compliance with all ship and station safety regulations that concern ammunition and explosives within the ship in conformance with orders of the commanding officer of the DON shore activity concerned. Assist as a Safety Observer to the pier or wharf area during weapons on and off load.
Monitors and ensures safe handling operations for ordnance technicians.
Reviews explosive site approvals, forwards on to US Navy Explosive Safety Officer for official submittal.
Assists the US Navy Explosive Safety Officer and company ES&H department in conducting accident / incident and near-miss investigations.
Assist the ES&H department in conducting and documenting facility inspections in Florida locations and on Andros Island to detect existing or potential unsafe or hazards conditions, and recommends corrective or preventive measures where indicated.
Assist in the development, implementation, monitoring and safety-related training programs provided by the AUTEC Environmental, Safety and Health Division, including Lockout/Tag out, CPR and First Aid, Electrical Safety, Fall protection, Confined Space Entry, Construction Site Safety, Blood borne Pathogens, Hazard Communication, Respiratory Protection, and Asbestos Awareness.
Assists with the coordination of outside agency safety, environmental and explosive inspections conducted on the AUTEC project.
Review and evaluate revised safety regulations, instructions, procedures, guidelines, and standards.
Manage appropriate documentation as required in support of the company ES&H and Explosive Safety Programs, to include reviewing with ES&H Director, Public Works Manager, US Navy Explosive Safety Officer and fire department representatives all facility modification drawings and equipment or tooling drawings used for explosive operations to ensure compliance.
Assist in the establishment and administration of special safety drives or campaigns.
Ability to work independently under general supervision and work non routine business hours to support mission requirements.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.


Minimum Requirements

10 years related experience working in DOD weapons/ordnance environment. Must have or be able to obtain within one year of hire certification in: Basic Explosives Safety (AMMO 18/49), Electrical Explosives Safety for Naval Facilities (AMMO 29), Explosives Safety for Naval Facility Planning (AMMO 36), Naval Motor Vehicle and Railcar Inspection (AMMO 51), ESO Orientation Course (AMMO-74), Munitions Rule Training and OSHA OTI 7505 Intro to Accident Investigation. Valid Drivers License and passport will be required. Proficient With Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel and Outlook). Knowledge of OSHA/DOD/US Navy OP5 & OP4 regulations. Ability to lift/carry/push/pull 75 pounds of equipment and ability to stand/walk for extended periods of time. Detailed oriented for reporting responsibilities. Planning skills and flexibility for teaching and scheduling classes. Work well independently since the majority of the duties are performed in the field with little direct supervision. Professional interpersonal skills and leadership to interface with all levels of personnel in a multi-cultural team-oriented environment. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Must be able to reside in remote location with limited medical facilities. This position requires the individual to be eligible to obtain a US Government security clearance; US Citizenship is required.
