Title: Law Enforcement Specialist
Description:
Education:
An advanced (Master's) university degree in Criminology, Law, Political sciences, Sociology, Police or related discipline is required;
A relevant university degree (bachelor’s degree / first level) with a combination of 7 additional years of relevant professional experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Experience:
At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in and extensive knowledge of the intelligence cycle, or investigation and prosecution of transnational organized crime cases is required;
A minimum of 5 years experience with criminal justice actors in Africa and a good understanding of the sub-regional (East Africa) context is required;
Experience in providing technical assistance and expert advice on programming and project management in the areas of law enforcement to a wide range of internal and external stakeholders is desirable;
Proven experience in the delivery of training in related areas is desired;
Proven experience in providing technical advice and mentoring is an added advantage;
Ability to interact with governmental agencies, good interpersonal skills and organizational proficiency is an added advantage;
Previous experience working with UNOPS in similar projects in the Law Enforcement sector would be considered an advantage;
Knowledge of the U.S. Department of State and its Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement system and procedures is an advantage;
Excellent analytical and evaluative skills is an added advantage;
Languages
Fluency in written and oral English required;
Intermediate or above French and / or Portuguese language skills are considered a distinct advantage.
