CARE is seeking an experienced Security Analysis and Communications Manager. The core function of this position is to lead CARE Security Unit’s (CSU) analysis capacity, analyzing global political and security developments in order to produce high-quality, actionable analysis that is relevant for CARE’s operational and strategic decision-making. The Security Analysis and Communications Manager will use a number of methodologies and manage specialist resources to ensure key threat trends that may impact CARE staff or programs are identified, assessed, and communicate this analysis in an effective and functional manner to all stakeholders.

Reporting directly to the Sr. Director, CARE Security Unit (CSU), the Security Analysis and Communications Manager will create new reporting styles and publishing approaches that utilize innovative technology, to improve the impact and accessibility of information. Included within Internal Communications responsibilities are internal representative requirements within CARE USA and the Confederation.

A secondary function of this role is internal communications within CARE. Safety & Security is a core function at CARE USA that works in support of enabling operations and programming while ensuring staff safety and security. Enhanced engagement with CARE staff is key to the CSU enabling both best practice approaches and also developing a broader organizational security culture. As such, clarity and style across all of the CSU’s communications is an essential component of engaging with CARE staff.

The Security Analysis and Communications Manager is also responsible for managing the CSU’s intern program. In support of ensuring and encouraging diversity and mentoring emerging talent within the field of safety & security, the CSU established an intern program with a particular focus on recruiting and hiring diverse candidates and international students.

To date, the CSU has recruited talented interns from across Georgia, the US, and internationally – including interns that have moved on to prestigious graduate programs and the US Peace Corps. This program requires consistent monitoring and attention to mentor current interns, while concurrently recruiting those for upcoming academic semesters in order to ensure full coverage of tasking and needs that have been established through this program. In response to this, the incumbent is also responsible for building and maintaining strong ties to the local (Atlanta), Georgian, and broader East Coast academic community.

Finally, the Security Analysis and Communications Manager will be responsible for the external representation of the CSU and CARE in various external groups, both domestically and internationally. This representation includes high-level liaison and engagement with various government agencies (including the Department of State), donors, various NGO forums, and both local and national universities.

Qualifications:
Advanced university degree in a related field (political science, international relations, conflict studies or similar)
2-3 years of previous analysis experience
2-3 years of previous managerial experience
Foreign language of use in one of CARE USA’s regions of operation (French, Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic)
