Job Description (Roles and Responsibilities)
The Conflict, Stability and Security Fund (CSSF) team at the British Embassy in Amman is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual for the position of CSSF Security and Stability Project Officer, Grade – B3 (L).
Main Purpose of the job:
To locally manage Conflict, Stability, and Security Fund (CSSF) funded projects which support the Security and Stability Programme within the Shared Security campaign goal in Jordan.
Working with colleagues in London and Amman, you will be responsible for supporting the delivery of a number of projects within this programme. These will include policing, inclusive security, and Women, Peace and Security. You may also be asked to support projects across the wider CSSF network in Jordan.
This exciting position plays a key part in delivering the UK Government’s CSSF which comprises of two programmes totalling around £23m in FY21/22.
Main Responsibilities:
Supporting the Programme Managers to deliver circa £17m of projects, using FCDO tools and systems to assure sound financial management and value for money; effective and on-time delivery by implementing partners; monitoring and evaluation (M&E); risk management; compliance with safeguarding standards; gender and conflict sensitivity.
Scrutiny of financial information received from implementers and resolving problems to ensure effective spend.
Analyse information from the projects and the wider context in order to identify improvements and make decisions, so that projects deliver the greatest possible benefits for Jordan and the UK.
Work with specialist advisors on the evidence base, M&E, and demonstrating results.
Organising and attending project-related events, including carrying out field monitoring visits of implementing partner activities.
Encouraging experience-sharing between project partners and staying abreast of research and developments on Jordanian politics and the economy.
Provide high-quality written and oral briefing to the Ambassador and senior British officials; effectively communicate the successes of your projects and support high-level visits.
Respond flexibly and actively to evolving priorities and needs.
You will work closely with the Defence section, given its major stake in the effective delivery of the Programme.
Resource Managed:
Supporting the delivery of projects up to the value of £17m pa.
No staff/line management responsibility.

Essential:
Fluent communication skills in English and Arabic (both spoken and written).
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
Minimum two years’ experience of successfully delivering projects in an international political/development context, preferably in a bilateral or multilateral aid agency.
Experience of managing budgets and working with financial information.
Strong analytical and decision-making skills are required.
Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to build productive working relations with project implementers and wider stakeholders.
Candidates should be highly organised, detail conscious and able to work in a diverse, high-performing environment.
Proven ability to take responsibility for own work, with a track record as a team player.
Literacy in Microsoft Office packages.
