Job description
Right now, we’re looking for an Overseas Security Manager to help ensure the safety of our staff, documents and equipment. That will involve safeguarding residential properties and overseeing all aspects of physical security, including vehicles, access control, alarm systems and CCTV – it will also be down to you to ensure our equipment is well-maintained. You will be the first point of contact for any security queries and you will investigate any incidents and breaches. In addition, your role will involve providing advice, guidance and support on all aspects of security and completing travel risk assessments for high-risk areas. We will also need you to brief colleagues on security issues, threats and mitigation, to develop and implement robust business continuity plans, and to carry out clearance checks.

With a background in the police, prison service, military, commercial security or a similar environment, you will bring significant experience of security management, including supervising large groups of staff and protecting physical premises. You will be a confident leader who can make decisions at pace and work well with others. A full manual UK driving licence is a must – ideally including the C1 category.

This is a rare opportunity to join a team who are passionate about the work they are doing. While workplace satisfaction is undeniably important, so too is your wellbeing and financial future. You will therefore have access to a generous benefits package that includes a competitive pension scheme. The work we undertake is challenging, stimulating and of vital importance to the FCDO’s mission, so join us and take on a role like no other.
