The PAE Security Officer is located at the PAE Life Support Camp in the AMISOM controlled area onboard Baledogle Military Airfield (BMA), Somalia.

The primary responsibility of the PAE Security Officer/closed circuit television (CCTV) operator is ensuring the safety of assigned personnel and the protection of property.

The primary duties of the PAE Security Officer are:
Conducting continuous real-time CCTV observations.
Operating and maintaining the CCTV surveillance system and all of its supporting computers and communications (C2) equipment.
Reporting of all security and force protection related observations, incidents and/or suspicious behavior to PAE leadership and/or other representatives designated by PAE.

PAE SECURITY OFFICER/CCTV OPERATOR COMPETENCIES
All PAE Security Officers/CCTV operators shall have detailed knowledge of CCTV/security operations and the CCTV and communications equipment that they are supporting.
Critical Observation Skills:
PAE Security Officers/CCTV operators shall apply critical observation skills while conducting CCTV observations.
Perceptive focus of seemingly mundane activities will be continuously necessary to ensure that when an atypical or suspicious event occurs, it is correctly observed and reported in a timely manner.
In order to create a “harder target”, PAE Security Officers/CCTV operators shall fuse other security related information (open source intelligence, UN reports, AMISOM/SNA intelligence, AMISOM UAS, etc.) to support their CCTV analysis.
Incident Communication:
PAE Security Officers/CCTV operators shall be prepared to make real time incident reports to PAE leadership as well as non-PAE personnel (as directed).
Incident reporting shall focus on:
Timeliness of incident report (don’t wait for more data to arrive when you are holding actionable information).
Accuracy of incident reports (however, accuracy should not be at the expense of timeliness).
PAE Security Officers/CCTV operators shall be proficient in a variety of communication networks that may include, but are not limited to; VHF radio, Thuraya satellite phone, commercial cell phone, internet chat applications, etc.
Under the direction of PAE leadership, the PAE Security Officers/CCTV operators shall be prepared to liaise and network with other BMA security professionals.
This may include UN staff, non-PAE contractors and supporting military personnel from AMISOM, SNA, and Danab.
Communications with non-PAE personnel shall be pre-coordinated and approved by PAE BMA leadership.
Incidental/unexpected contact with non-PAE staff shall be reported to PAE leadership as soon as practical (ex. DoS calls PAE Security office).
Information Management:
PAE Security Officers/CCTV operators shall be proficient at information management, to include:
Saving and transmitting critical data.
Archiving data.
Deleting data.
Cataloging data in a logical fashion to ensure ease of future search and/or recovery.
Logical management of data storage.
During the course of a normal activities, daily records shall continuously logged in the Occurrence Book.
CCTV Maintenance:
PAE Security Officers/CCTV operators shall be proficient at equipment maintenance to include:
Basic CCTV preventative maintenance, cleaning, and routine upkeep.
Approved repairs of CCTV and support equipment.
Internet connectivity networks that support CCTV operations.
All CCTV and support equipment system manuals shall be downloaded for system troubleshooting.
