Job Summary
The Warehouse Worker/Laborer shall assist with the delivery/collection of non-expendable supplies such as furniture, appliances and equipment as well as expendable supplies such as office paper supplies, printer cartridges, etc. to residential and functional properties, buildings and other locations
Principal Accountabilities
(Typical duties include the following, although specific duties vary by assignment or contract.)
Language Level
• English: Sl (preferably S2)/Rl, preference for Level 2
• Dari: S3/R3
Duties may include the movement of furniture, appliances and equipment from stock as requested on approved work orders for onward distribution to residential properties, the offices, and other destinations as required.
Ensures prior to loading that all items selected for delivery are fit for the purpose and that all cleaning, polishing, repairs and electrical checks are completed.
Familiarizes him/herself with all the different styles and finishes to be able to differentiate between the different sets furniture when selecting items for issuance.
Assists in the receipt of property by unloading containers, opening lift vans, removing contents and delivering to warehouses/containers.
Operates a forklift for lifting and transporting heavy items from stock locations to the loading location.
Operates safe handling trolley to move safes, refrigerators, etc. up and down stairs and other mechanical aids as required.
Performs general maintenance and charging requirements on the forklift and associated mechanical handling aids as required to ensure optimum performance at all times.
Assists with internal warehouse duties which encompass reorganizing, inventory, sale preparation and unpacking.
Assemble and disassemble conference rooms and other venues for activities as directed.
Assembles flat-pack furniture as required.
Drives a motor vehicle (truck, van or pickup) as needed.
Additional duties as and when required.
Experience & Education
High school diploma or equivalent.
6 months of prior warehouse experience or a combination warehouse/laborer experience preferred
Must have valid driver's license
Physical Requirements/Working Environment
Ability to lift fifty (50) pounds.
Working conditions at the assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable.
Long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions.
