Job Summary

The Theater Transportation Manager will have responsibility for all transportation operations in support of constructing and providing operations and maintenance for assigned Forward Operating Bases (FOB) and provides direction and oversight to FOB transportation supervisors and Movement Control supervisors as required.
Principal Accountabilities
(Typical duties include the following, although specific duties vary by assignment or contract.)
Oversee the following activities: Transportation and MHE operations, movement control and arrival / departure airfield control group operations, container management, and transportation motor pool operations
Work closely with the project and construction management staff to develop plans, policies and procedures for the project transportation support
Set project logistics policy in the areas of transportation management, and movement control
Ensure transportation sections comply with Statement of Work (SOW) requirements
Facilitate effective vertical and horizontal communications throughout the logistics organization
Perform annual training as required for efficiency and compliance
Develop and/or train personnel on all aspects of logistics
Perform special projects as needed
Other duties as assigned
Knowledge & Skills
Skill and knowledge of ground transportation, freight forwarding, army supply operations, and distribution administration are required
Skill and knowledge in analyzing and evaluating Defense Transportation System reports, quality control, and traffic management functions
Familiarity with DOD transportation contracts
Past skills in organizing and supervising the movement, deployment and redeployment of personnel and equipment; both in an Army and joint environment
Additional knowledge/skill requirements may be required by assignment or contract

Experience & Education
Minimum of ten (10) years Army Transportation related knowledge and/or training. Experience must include at least two years of OCONUS/Combat Zone management level work
Bachelor’s degree in a logistics or management discipline preferred
Prior experience as a transportation liaison representative between the Army and other military services, commercial agencies, and host nation elements
Evaluation experience in site capability and limitation for depots, truck terminals, air terminals, and water ports/terminals, and road networks
Experience managing transportation support for similar sized projects
Past management experience in transportation, freight forwarding, and supply chain management
Technical experience in the interpretation and use of military transportation automation systems, and civilian transportation management and cargo tracking system
Additional experience/education may be required by assignment or contract
Must be able to meet the medical deployment requirements IAW CENTCOM MOD 15


Physical Requirements/Working Environment
Overseas locations where living and working conditions at assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable, with long hours, exposure to weather, dust, and hazardous/harsh conditions

Travel

Ability to travel domestically and internationally

Qualifications
Must have ability to obtain and maintain US security clearance at proper level
