Main Purpose of Job
The Senior Security Officer works closely with the Security Advisor to monitor the security environment of the MSH project, implements security strategies as per the security policy for activities and personnel as required. On a day to day basis, the Senior Security Officer is responsible for overseeing security staff, monitoring the security system and proactively checking the security of all offices, dwelling, stores and warehouses.
Able and willing to travel in different regions of Afghanistan as required.
Support Security Advisor to maintain and operate the security system (infrastructure, communications, and security approvals) for all MSH facilities (offices, residences, stores and warehouses).
Provide daily security reports to the Security Advisor, to include an assessment of trends in security nationwide, analysis of security events in the USAID provinces and notification of threats to MSH personnel or offices in Kabul or the provinces.
Supervise all administrative functions required by MSH for the Security department, to include duty rosters, performance planning and review, timesheets, and all leave requests for each member of the security staff.
Oversee transport department, including drivers, mechanics and security personnel and ensure all transport staff are trained, understand emergency and day to day procedures and follow them with strict discipline.
Ensure that all MSH security staff are at their assigned stations or performing their supervision functions by making regular day and evening patrols of their posts.
Plan schedules, coordinate activities and supervise security and staff on all MSH premises.
Monitor the operation of the email notification system used to relay security warnings and announcements (INSO and internal) to the staff of MSH projects.

Bachelor’s degree in Law Enforcement or other relevant discipline plus seven (7) years of progressive security management experience. Comprehensive knowledge of security management of iNGO program environment, regulations and requirements.
Knowledge and Skills:
Familiarity with the geographic area for which he or she will be responsible.
Familiarity with security systems and government security requirements and procedures.
Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
Able and willing to travel in different regions of Afghanistan as required.
Competencies:
Good written and oral communication skills both in local languages and English. Excellent interpersonal skills; demonstrated ability to interact professionally with culturally diverse staff.
