Overall job objectives
The Security Guard is responsible to safeguard, patrol and monitor any theft or violence in the premises where he has been assigned at NMS-GVS Program site .
Responsibilities:
· Patrols facility or stands post as instructed and serves as a general security presence and visible deterrent to crime and client rule infractions.
· Patrols premises to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensure security of doors, windows, and gates.
· Detects suspicious activities and watch for criminal acts or client rule infractions at or near assigned post which may be a threat to the property, client or employees at the site.
· Monitors and authorizes entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and other persons to guard against theft and maintain security of premises.
· Operates detecting devices to screen individuals and/or vehicles and prevents passage of prohibited articles into restricted areas.
· Responds to emergencies, such as medical and bomb threats; and to alarms, such as fire and intrusion by following emergency response proceedings.
· Reports ALL suspicious activities, disturbances, accidents, medical emergencies or possible threats to safety to the Site Manager immediately. This includes but is not limited to, the reporting of irregularities such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences.
· Ensures that his/her firearm is only handled by authorized personnel and in compliance with the company’s policies and procedures.
· Protects site personnel, visitors and equipment using minimum force. The use of deadly force is only justified under conditions of extreme necessity, as a last resort, when all lesser means have failed or cannot reasonably be applied.
· Escorts individuals to specified locations and/or provide personal protection during transport upon request.
· Performs NPPF guard training upon request
· Performs other related tasks as assigned
Work Environment
· The full-time work location for this position is Afghanistan; an austere and hostile environment.
· Minimum work hours are 9 hours a day, 6 days a week. Work may include nights and weekends (Friday) on short notice.
· Able to walk/stand on level or inclined surfaces for prolonged periods per day, sit for prolonged periods per day, and climb/descend stairs or rough terrain.
· Must be willing and able to perform physical activities including but not limited to heavy lifting of up to 40lbs; climbing in and out of equipment; crawling; and working outdoors.
· Able to routinely grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbows/knees, and reach above/below shoulders. Able to communicate by voice and detect sound by ear.
· While performing the duties of this job, the employee may regularly be exposed to extreme and austere desert-like environment - temperatures can reach 49 °C (120 °F) during summer, and as low as -9 °C (15 °F) during winter.
· May be exposed to extreme noise from acts of aggression.
