Required Qualifications and Experience:
Education
• Master’s degree in Military Studies, Law Enforcement, Security Management, Disaster Management or a related field from an accredited academic institution with two years of relevant professional experience; or
• University degree in the above fields with four years of relevant professional experience.
Experience
• Experience in security management, law enforcement, preferably at an international level;
• Extensive military experience, law enforcement, Disaster (Risk) Management, or alternatively a combination of relevant security training and field experience;
• Previous experience in UN Missions, International Peacekeeping or Emergency Missions;
• Emergency Trauma Bag (ETB) certification, highly desirable.
• Familiarity with the Central Asia context and previous working experience in Afghanistan an advantage;
• Experience in planning and execution of security agencies or organizations security policies highly desirable;
• Must have a valid driver’s license and previous experience in dealing with law enforcement agencies an advantage;
• Experience in planning and execution of security agencies or organizations security policies, highly desirable.
Skills
• Demonstrated ability to manage a high degree of rational behaviour and decision making at all times irrespective of the gravity of the security environment.
• Proven ability to discern and uphold the programmatic interest status and safety of the mission at all times.
• Proven ability to collaborate with senior military and government counterparts.
• Physical ability to effectively respond to and support staff in in extremis situations.
Languages
IOM’s official languages are English, French, and Spanish.
For this position, fluency in English is required (oral and written). Working knowledge French,
Spanish, Dari and/or Pashto is an advantage.
Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
