Safety Advisors- Tillabery and Diffa (2 positions) , Niger

Location: Niger 




As such, we are looking for two experienced individuals to join the team, one in Tillabéry and another in Diffa, the two organization field offices in Niger.

Job overview:
The Safety Advisor position offers a unique opportunity to work with a close-knit team to provide the NGO community with contextual analysis and security advice, in a global effort to improve humanitarian access. Specific responsibilities include the production of analysis products according to organization standards, staff mentoring, monitoring the compliance of services.

The successful candidate will have solid experience in managing the security and safety of NGOs. He will be an open, curious, rigorous, and experienced person, with the responsibility of building and managing effective teams. The candidate will also have the ability to analyze security issues and complex contexts, to communicate fluently in French both orally and in writing at an excellent level. above all, He must also respect the organization's commitment to humanitarian principles.

Main responsibilities:
* Ensure the supply of organization Niger products and services (scheduled services and on-demand services) by providing a rapid and credible contextual analysis of the local security situation, in accordance with internal delivery standards and policies.
* Facilitate regional round tables on the security of the NGO community.
* Manage a small operational team, including the supervision of national staff.
* Help the country office to set up an active information network bringing together NGOs, the United Nations, the armed forces and other national and international actors in the region.
* Participate in various coordination meetings and forums related to humanitarian aid.
* Assist NGOs in developing their own security management capabilities by providing sound advice, reviewing policy documents, conducting site security surveys and assisting in the coordination of crisis management.
* Represent, promote and effectively protect organization's mandate of independence, impartiality and neutrality.


Job requirements:
* Fluent French (compulsory). A working knowledge of English (oral and written) is also required for the position at Diffa.
* Master's level training or experience in a relevant field
* Experience in a post-conflict / emergency environment in the humanitarian sector
* Excellent writing, analytical and attention to detail skills - the position involves a lot of editing and correction work.
* Strong understanding of the principles and practices of humanitarian action, risk management and NGO security

Desirable features:
* At least one year of experience in a West African country, preferably in Niger, and ideally in a role of NGO security manager or equivalent.
* A good understanding of the humanitarian and security context in Niger.
* Experience in the field of risk management and access in NGOs and / or project management in NGOs.
* Proficiency in one or more local languages.

Salary
Terms and conditions: 12 month contract with a desired start date September 1, 2020. Monthly salary of € 4,550 per month, 4 calendar days of annual leave per month worked, 7 days of R&R every 3 months with compensation of € 1000, accommodation, comprehensive medical cover (excl. USA) and life insurance included.
