Required Qualifications and Experience:
Education
• Master’s degree in Security Management/Social Sciences, Law, Disaster Management,
International Studies, Communications or a related field from an accredited academic institution
with seven years of relevant professional experience; or
• University degree in the above fields with nine years of relevant professional experience.
• Previous Hostage Incident Management (HIM) Training and Safe and Secure Approaches in
Field Environments Training of Trainer (SSAFE TOT) would be an advantage.
Experience
• Relevant professional experience working in security management, military experience, law
enforcement, Disaster Risk Management preferably at an international level;
• Previous experience in UN Missions, International Peacekeeping or Emergency Missions;
• Experience in planning and execution of security agencies or organizations highly desirable;
• Previous experience in dealing with law enforcement agencies an advantage;
• Experience working in hardship duty stations and having previous training in hostage incident
management scenarios would be an advantage;
Skills
• Proven ability to collaborate with senior military and government counterparts.
Languages
IOM’s official languages are English, French, and Spanish.
For this position, fluency in English and French is required (oral and written). Working
knowledge of Arabic, Portuguese and/or Spanish is an advantage.
Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process,
which may include written and/or oral assessments.
