Maritime Security Trainer , West Africa

Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is urgently recruiting for Maritime Security Trainers with extensive experience in maritime security for a short term project located in Equatorial Guinea.

The Maritime Security Trainer will provide security training in a maritime environment while coordinating and facilitating security support to the Company's off shore project.

Principle Duties & Responsibilities:

Conduct initial evaluation of EG military personnel as they directly support Company operations, to include tactics, techniques and procedures (TTPs) and organic operational, communication and logistical support.
Observe, provide feedback and conduct corrective training on array of maritime security and communications procedures, protocols and emergency action drills while protecting project assets.
Plan and conduct drills and exercises to reinforce training.
Review events and reporting on piracy and other maritime security events in the Gulf of Guinea as provided by Company and brief to on board EG military and crew. Maintain daily log of events during operations and disseminate to designated Company Representative.

Working Conditions :

Extended maritime work environment
Must live and work on maritime vessel
Project duration likely to include 14-day onshore quarantine in Company provided housing
Working shift post-quarantine duration TBD but could be from around 30-50 days.


Skills / Qualifications

Qualifications \ Training:
Bachelor's Degree desired
Excellent written and verbal communication skills required in English and Spanish
A number of years of experience in Maritime Security (private industry and/or government)
Protective Security Detail training and experience required.
Oil and gas industry experience desired.
Knowledge of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA).
Knowledge of the Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights.
Proficient with Maritime radar and tracking systems as well as security, electronic and communication systems.


Personal Attributes:
Must be self-confident, well organized, possess initiative, the ability to handle multiple tasks and to work with minimum supervision
Ability to implement a training program and train individuals and small teams in Spanish.
Strong leadership traits and demonstrated ability to make sound decisions with limited information, time and resources.
Must be able to function as part of a team.
Must be physically fit and not possess any medical conditions that prevent successful completion of listed responsibilities and requirements.


Medical Fitness Requirements:

Additionally, due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, we have instituted additional medical requirement and personnel with have to complete health checks to ensure that they do not have specific underlying medical conditions, as part of these additional conditions an upper age restriction of 63 years and older has been applied.
