Responsibilities
Within delegated authority, the Logistics Officer, will be responsible for the following duties:
Logistics:
•Participates in or leads technical survey missions and verification missions to troop contributing countries.
•Plans, establishes, and directs a fully integrated, field mission support center in accordance with existing UN directives; provides effective management and
successful coordination of logistics support activities of multi-national civilian, military and inter-departmental staff.
•Develop and provide Logistics Support Plans (LSPs)to all mission components, including for contingency planning (CONPLANS).
•Draft and develop mission specific logistic SOPs and monitor availability and updates.
•Plans and co-ordinates logistics support to new, sustaining, expanding, contracting, and liquidating operations and other field missions and other field operations.
•Supervise the collection, analysis and dissemination of up-to-date information on the capabilities and status of Mission logistics support assets and the status of major projects and activities.
•Draft Briefing Notes, Talking Points, Note-to-File, Fact Sheets and other relevant reports, vital to provide Mission Support Management with the updated information necessary for informed decision making.
•Provides effective and timely planning, oversight, management, and coordination of logistics support operations.
•Provide senior managers with all relevant and timely information and reports on Logistics matters.
•Conduct logistics briefing and presentations on as required basis.
•Coordinate MSD/MSC responses for high-level reports, meetings and presentations.
Administration:
•Develops operations process documentation for mission logistics support.
•Ensures that logistics requirements take account of gender-specific needs.
•Develops plans and procedures for assessing material, staff, troops and their movements, planning and costing of operational budgets.
•May coordinate and direct a team of staff and/or mentor and supervise the work of new/junior officers.
•Provides secretariat support for the IPT (Integrated Planning Team) meetings on mission priority projects.

A minimum of twelve (12) years of progressively responsible experience in land/ air transport or logistics operations in military, commercial or international organizations, or related area is required. The minimum years are reduced to 7 years for candidates who possess a first level university degree.
Proven experience in formulating logistic support plans and contingency plans to support military or police operations is required.
At least one year field experience in international or UN peacekeeping operations is desirable.
Experience in managing an information and management reporting unit in peacekeeping mission or any other similar regional or international organization is desirable
