POSITION SUMMARY:
Serves as the Company SME for Combined Arms Live Fire Exercise (CALFX) as part of the Training Support Team.
MAJOR JOB ACTIVITIES:
Provides support in the planning and execution of CALFX exercises and ranges assisting units with planning and development that supporting the training objectives, to include scenarios and orders; assists as required with preparation and execution.
Capable of preparing complete plan for CALFX training, including STX rehearsal based on unit Training objectives, and assisting the unit thru preparation and execution.
Maintains currency and situational awareness on the current TTP’s and technology employment in-theater operations to include weekly reports and updates by Joint Improvised-Threat Defeat Organization (JIDO), Asymmetric Warfare Group (AWG), and other in-theater assets.
Supervises the designs, establishment, and execution of live fire training based on unit’s recommendation and training objective IAW Army Safety Regulations and ASG Kuwait policies and procedures on all live fire and situational training exercises.
Oversees the preparation of the Surface Danger Zone (SDZ) for live fire training events and ensures the SDZ is constructed IAW AR 385-63 in order to support the weapons system specified for the desired training event.
Maintain current, relevant knowledge for Combined Arms Maneuver Operations.
Prepares and presents targetry on all live fire ranges and non-live fire training areas; must have knowledge and experience with Radio Controlled devices.
Observe all unit’s actions, provide feedback on all Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTPs) and lessons learned process using the After-Action Review format (AAR).
Coaches, teaches and mentors unit personnel using current U.S. Army doctrine to include various TTPs.
Conduct research and provides input into lesson outlines and Training Support Package (TSP).
Monitor safety and assist unit leadership in the identification and mitigation of risk. Mentors Leaders to make judgment calls on situations not covered by the Rules of Engagement (ROE).
Ensures compliance with all current Standing Orders and the Range Control Standing Operating Procedures.
Know and understand lane training methodology as well as employ and operate standard and non-standard Training Aids, Devices, Simulators and Simulations (TADSS) in support of numerous Situational Training Exercise (STX) lanes.
Ensures safety procedures are followed on both Situational Training Exercise Lane and Live Fire Exercise Lane.
Ensures the maintenance of all non-tactical vehicles with its assigned equipment. Ensures all equipment meets appropriate levels of maintenance IAW established standards.
Ensures compliance with ASG-Kuwait Range Control safety standards on all live fire and situational training exercises.
Responsible for the accurate accountability of all equipment assigned to the team. Conducts 100% inventory of all assigned equipment identifying any short comings to appropriate agency.
Maintain currency with new and shifting U.S. Army and USMC doctrine.
Maintain working relationships with tenant and rotational units.
MATERIAL & EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED:
Military Vehicles, PPE, Handheld radios, laptop computers, Military radios, Training Aids, Mock explosive devices, and simulators.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:
Field and Office environment.
Travel to other countries within the CENTCOM AOR
May be required to work an uncommon tour of duty including nights, weekends and holidays as required.
Required to observe all safety and environmental policies in compliance with federal, military and local laws.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:
Must have professional appearance, consistent with local customs.
Must have a valid driver’s license.
Must be able to obtain license to operate military vehicles.
Must be able to lift 75lbs a vertical distance of four feet and carry 25 feet.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Must have a Bachelor’s degree. Equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of education requirement.
Required Qualifications:
Must meet USCENTCOM physical / medical requirements.
Must deploy to USCENTCOM training locations with austere living conditions.
Experience:
Eight (8) years related work experience as it relates to the knowledge, skills, and abilities outlined in the job activities.
Former SFC and above, Army/USMC serving as a Company, Battalion or Division Master Gunner.
Extensive training background in either the M1 Abrams or M2/M3 Bradley; J-3 or A8 Qualified.
Thorough knowledge of current Army doctrine, Tactics, Techniques and Procedures (TTPs).
Prior assignment to a maneuver CTC as an Observer/Controller or extensive CTC experience as BLUFOR/OPFOR.

Must possess or be able to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC).
Must be able to maintain USG network access.
