Head of Security - Extractives , South Africa

Location:  Johannesburg, South Africa
Salary/Rate: £70,000 - £130,000/annum

Purpose
To identify and protect people and assets from internal and external security threats in order to continue mining operations. This can be an accompanying role with excellent living facilities.

Responsibilities
• Lead and manage the Security Team in to proactively protect people and assets
• Ensure the physical protection of sites and the people and assets within it
• Draft, implement and measure the performance of an effective policy
• Integrate a holistic security programme with community engagement
• Develop and analyze all relevant sources of threat information
• Collect and report to management all relevant security-related data
• Draft, practice and manage crisis response in line with global policy
• Identify signals and provide early warning of future external risks
• Selection, oversight and quality control of security contractors
• Run business resilience process
• Liaise with Government and Law enforcement
Reporting
• Day to day reporting to Country MD
• Report as directed to security team lead for SA.

The Person
You will be a problem solver, articulate, and able to easily present complicated projects. Experienced in working in the extractives sector, the use of technology in major projects, physical protection for people and assets, developing community engagement strategies and working with senior government officials. You will have worked in regional military or Police, the SA mining sector, and reached a position of leadership and budget holding.
