Primary Function
The Airfield Safety Manager will support our Balad Air Base contract by effectively inspecting the airfield environment for safety and compliance to ensure daily safe and efficient air operations. Actively support and uphold the Company's stated vision, mission, and values.
Responsibilities
Possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities to effectively inspect the airfield environment for safety and compliance with established Air Force, Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) or North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) airfield planning and design criteria
Acts as Initial Investigating Officer to gather, preserve and protect evidence after a mishap occurs. The investigating officer ensures preservation of evidence, documents the mishap site, and coordinates the efforts in preparation for handover to Safety Investigation Board upon arrival. IAW AFMAN 91-223
Directs Bird/Wildlife Aircraft Strike Hazard Management Program IAW AFI 91-212. Oversees employees whom execute BASH duties
Conducts and monitors safety training to employees, safety record keeping, safety meetings, safety inspections and airfield safety exercises in accordance with prescribed regulations
Assist IqAF safety, wing and airfield personnel on basic safety related topics and more focused air/ground control safety awareness, hazard identification and mitigation planning/corrective measures
Familiar with all conditions that meet NOTAM criteria processing according to AFI 11-208, Department of Defense Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) System
Other duties as assigned by management
Job Requirements
The Airfield Safety Manager shall have completed the USAF AFM certification or have equivalent education (AAAE Airport Certified Employee) and at least 3-years management experience executing Airfield Management duties that correlates to tasks in the AFM PCG and duties described in AFI 13-204v3 at a military or civil airport; preferably at an F-16 based airfield.
Must have completed an aviation safety course of instruction and a course of instruction in accident investigations equivalent to the USAF Accident Investigation Course
Bachelor's Degree in Safety Science / Occupational Safety / Airfield Management / or combination of education and equivalent experience in field
USAF AFSC 13M3 or 13M4 experience highly recommended and/or pilot experience (Military pilot experience highly recommended)
