PSD Assistant Team Leader / Medic , Iraq

Primary Function

The primary purpose of a Protective Security Detail (PSD) is to safeguard the principal from physical harm and from situations that may endanger his or her person or liberty. The Assistant Team Leader is to also fulfill the duties of the First Responder, primarily responsible for providing medical support, with first line trauma support as the priority, to the Principals and Team Members, until such time as Principals and Team Members can be evacuated to a medical facility nearby.


Responsibilities

Performs the day-to-day protective security functions as specified in Sallyport Mobile Security SOP's, and according to ISO18788 Standards
Responsible for stabilizing the injured and determining medical priorities as situations arise; advises management on all PSD related health, safety and environmental risks.
Acts as a liaison between the PSD and other medical components within SGS, and BDOC.
Responds in disaster situations as required.
Manages, inspects and replenishes medical equipment as required.
Responsible for knowledge of Principals' blood types, known allergies and possible medical conditions prior to the missions.
Conducts basic medical training for Team Members. First Responder Training.
Be up to date, with all duties of PSD Team Leader, allowing, for the Assistant Team Leader to perform those duties as and when required, on short notice.
Be positioned within the lead vehicle, principal's vehicle, or follow vehicle and acts as a response agent, when required in motorcade or similar operations.
Co- ordinate a medevac from any work site or route taken during movement, in an event of an incident occurring.
Carries and operates weapons as specified in Sallyport Mobile Security SOP's, or upon orders from the Team Leader.
Maintains protective formation position during principal's walking movements.
Participates in advance security preparation.
Assists with daily movements, planning and briefings of fellow Team Members and/or Principals when required.
Assists the Team Leader in the preparation of training schedules and briefing of new Team Members.
Ensures that all vehicles and equipment are maintained and functioning properly.
Maintains abreast of SGS' policies and procedures
Responsible for the safekeeping and safeguarding of all weapons under his control in accordance with SGS's policies and procedures.
Responsible for the daily maintenance of all weapons under his control.
Responsible for the prompt reporting of significant incidents to the Team Leader, or BDOC.
Maintains high level of Operational Security (OPSEC) standards whilst on duty and leave.
Performs related duties as assigned by the Senior SET Manager or Team Leader and BDOC.
Other duties as assigned by management


Job Requirements

Must be a US Citizen with valid passport.
Previous experience working in a law enforcement, Para-military and/or military organization (in the case of military service, all military discharges must have been under honorable conditions)
Individual should possess credible medical training to a level of FPOS or equivalent.
One (1) year experience working in protective security services for a public or private entity,
Previous work experience in hostile, post-conflict environments.
Valid Driver's License.
Successfully Completed BTEC Level 3 Course or equivalent.


Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of principles and practices of security operations in the developing world.
Skilled in observing situations and decision-making.
Skilled in dealing courteously with Principals and others encountered during the course of duty.
Ability to pass a detailed medical evaluation and physical fitness test.
Ability to communicate effectively and concisely verbally and in writing.
Ability to operate vehicles and equipment, including nighttime operation with vision or corrected vision.
Ability to operate independently in remote and dangerous locations without guaranteed communications and immediate external support.
Ability to qualify and remain current in weapons normally carried by military and/or law enforcement officers (i. e. Semi-automatic pistols and Rifles)
Ability to work well in teams and in a collaborative environment.


Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Maintain high level of physical fitness, commensurate with SET CP duties.
Ability to climb, crawl, crouch, bend, stand for long periods, reach above shoulder level, extend arms at awkward angles, lift, and carry objects
Ability to remain alert for shifts of twelve (12) consecutive hours or as required.
