The British Embassy Cairo is seeking a Post Security Manager grade B3 (L).
Main purpose of the job:
The Security Manager will be responsible for leading the day-to-day security provision in the Embassy, its facilities, rented and owned apartments.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage the Embassy Guard Force for both the main Embassy Compound and the Residence, comprising 2 Guard Supervisors and 18 Guards, including where necessary through attendance and supervision at large events held on compound.
Report to the Regional Overseas Security Manager (a British diplomat) daily on the previous 24-hours by 0830 on matters relating to the Embassy estate, and incidents of interest and emerging situations which may affect security.
Set and oversee highest professional standards of the Embassy guard force.
To ensure that all Guards carry out their duties as laid down in the post security regulations, ensuring the highest standards of appearance, bearing and discipline at all times.
Actively carry out line management responsibilities, to include: performance management, staff development, providing regular and constructive feedback and to follow the recognised Appraisal cycle.
Oversee the design and delivery of security plans for regular large scale functions at the Embassy.
Ensure guard force uniforms are renewed as programmed and that new guard force members receive uniform in good time.
Liaise with Embassy Technical Works and Estates Teams, to ensure that all contracted workers are properly and fully supervised during their employment on the Embassy estate.
Maintain an up to date knowledge of operational capability of gates, blockers and air locks and arrange repair and maintenance as required.
Ensure X-Ray machines are maintained and in working order and that annual servicing is conducted on time.
Keep a log of CCTV operational capability and report defects and failures to Technical teams. Manage repair of defects and failures to ensure timely reinstatement of capability.
Regularly check all appropriate security logs are maintained in a correct and tidy manner.
Ensure that the Guardhouses operate in an efficient manner, maintaining order and cleanliness at all times.
Maintain liaison with, Police, other security organisations and neighbouring friendly missions.
Deputise for the ROSM in his absence, including acting as Security Manager in the event of a crisis, and provide briefings to new staff on security environment and arrangements.
Conduct emergency drills and in the event of an emergency alarm take responsibility for identifying the cause and resulting necessary action.
The jobholder will have a good degree of autonomy though will have the full support of colleagues across the mission. S/he will need to work flexibly to prioritise against competing demands. An ability to maintain effective networks within the Post, and externally is essential.
The jobholder will also have the opportunity to engage in wider Corporate Services or Post corporate roles.

Essential qualifications, skills and experience
Fluency in English and Arabic written and verbal communication skills
A minimum of 5 years previous security experience
A minimum of 2 years previous experience of team management
Excellent organisational skills
Ability to work unsupervised
Flexibility & ability to maintain professionalism under pressure
Full driving licence
Relevant PC experience including MS Office (Word, Excel & PowerPoint)
