Aviation Security Analyst , Dubai

Location: Dubai

Job purpose

We are recruiting an analyst based in Dubai. The successful candidate should have a strong background in threat analysis with experience focusing on the aviation industry. An understanding of anti-aircraft weapon systems and the manner
in which the civil aviation industry assesses and responds to security threats is preferred. Job responsibilities will include: writing analysis and alerts under a monitoring contract with a major international airline; contributing to our political risk subscription services; delivering in-depth bespoke consulting reports and briefings to clients; and close collaboration with the company’s other service lines and our network of offices around the globe. A secondary aspect of the role will be to contribute to companys’ understanding and tracking of non-state armed groups in the Middle East and Africa.

Tasks and responsibilities

Research and analysis

Build and maintain expertise on the aviation sector and the security threats it faces through open source and social media, and attendance at seminars and industry events
Work with other senior analysts and analysts to lead the development of companys’ analysis of how ongoing conflicts and potential conflicts could affect aviation operations
Contribute updates to our online subscription service CORE.
Suggest new research sources and approaches

Consulting reports and projects

Leading on or contributing to retainer projects for aviation sector clients. This will involve producing bespoke written reports and conducting briefings and workshops that assess the political, security and operational risks to clients’ interests
Contributing to the development of compelling client deliverables by making use of innovative presentation formats, graphics and methodologies.

Marketing and business development
Carry out research to support business development initiatives, with a specific focus on the aviation sector
Helping to win client work by contributing to proposals for work in the region, in consultation with the GRA Middle East and North Africa (MENA) department,
Companys’ other service lines and the company’s client management team.
Participating in client meetings and identifying business opportunities in the region and further afield.
Contribute to promotional publications, press releases, and other initiatives as required

Networking and sources
Develop and maintain government, academic, journalistic and business contacts in the region to support your analysis
Identifying organisations or companies that can expand the depth and range of services that organization provides to its clients.
Liaising regularly with our regional offices.
Sharing and obtaining information from  security consultants deployed on assignments in the region.


Knowledge and experience

Essential

3-4 years of professional experience in conducting research and presenting findings in writing and verbally
Ability to write concisely and authoritatively to deadlines while interacting with colleagues and clients in challenging situations.
Professional experience in political, security or operational risk analysis.
Professional experience working on topics related to the aviation sector and nonstate armed groups
Familiarity with business-focused research and analysis
Academic or professional training in political or security analysis.
Professional proficiency in English

Preferred
Experience conducting business in MENA or advising companies operating in the region
Experiencing conducting research on and living in the Gulf
Additional language skills (especially French, Persian, Kurdish or Urdu)
