The Role:
To coordinate Security and surveillance services and systems at a mine site and to ensure the security
team is well trained to protect the organization’s assets and people. To implement and maintain emergency response procedures to minimize loss or damage.

Your Responsibilities:
Safeguard a mine site through security measures that protect company assets, people and goods in transit.
Manage the human, financial and operational resources of the security function for the mine site.
Leads execution of strategies in mine site security to enhance current security practices and performance.
Ensure all monitoring and surveillance equipment such as video surveillance systems, electronic security systems, access control systems and mine perimeter protection is in working order 24/7.
Monitor incoming and outgoing personnel and vehicles and be vigilant about adhering to high standards of access control. Minimize interruptions to production caused by unexpected visitors and loss of equipment.
Coordinate and manage heightened security and surveillance procedures when gold is being refined or transported.
Oversee emergency preparedness programs that ensure the site is able to react systematically and effectively in a crisis and minimize damage or risk.
To develop response measures intent on counteracting respective threats within governing principles of the site crisis management plan.
Implement and communicate security protocol for vehicle operations and access and curfews. Ensure methods for conveying emergency messages are understood.
Ensure all incoming employees have a security orientation that covers operational and screening protocol and the consequences of infractions.
Enforce clear and consistent discipline for infractions of security policy and investigate any violations.  Escalate violations to senior management.
Investigate and document incidents, suspicious activities and security-related situations.
Act as a senior technical resource for all security related issues.

Supervise the administration of security services.
Ensure accurate reporting of incidents and hazards.
Continuously update documentation for the behavioral safety program and injury prevention programs and ensure they meet statutory requirements and high quality standards.
Prepare and review documentation and reports for accident reporting, first aid, and security infractions.
Monitors and reports on achievement of targets and revises strategies as needed
Sets priorities and allocates resources for the function
Review security policies and procedures and recommend improvements to the Safety Superintendent.
Maintain the site security database, ensure data is accurate, run and analyze security reports.
Manage a team of employees providing security services.
Forecast staffing requirements and supervise, train and evaluate assigned staff. Coordinate on-call staff scheduling to provide after-hours or emergency coverage.
Ensure the team proactively monitors all equipment and skillfully investigates and resolves issues in a way that minimizes disruption to the mine.
Chair monthly safety meetings and follow through on action items.
Provide employees with clear work objectives and expectations of the performance levels required.
Ensure that training is provided in accordance with the future needs of direct reports and mine staff.
Conduct performance reviews and provide feedback to direct reports.
Build the capabilities of the team to enhance function’s ability to achieve financial and operating strategy; hires appropriately, leverages the talents of the function and takes corrective action where necessary.


Qualifications
What we look for:

Related diploma or certificate such as security or law enforcement (two year program).
First Aid certificate.
Minimum 10 years' of related experience in mine site security.
Minimum 5 years' of Supervisory experience.
Tertiary Qualification and/or experience in Crisis Management and Emergency Preparedness
Trained and experienced in crowd and riot control.
Experienced in working within environments of cultural diversity and religion.
Experience with emergency preparedness and response programs.
Experience with security equipment and protocol.
