The Role:
The Regional Manager, Security oversees the protection of personnel, operations and assets in Western Africa with a specific focus on security intelligence, crisis management, exploration sites
security, residential security and travel risk programs. He/she identifies threats, analyses risks, plans and monitors the implementation of mitigation measures in the region. He/she leads a multidisciplinary and multi-cultural team, provides expertise and support to operations and liaises with corporate security and crisis management organizations. The incumbent ensures continuity in the absence of the Essakane Site Security Manager.

Your Responsibilities:
Key Area: Manage the security, investigations and crisis management disciplines within the region:

Duties:
Develop and update country threat and risk analysis registers
Lead early identification and develop strategies to mitigate regional security threats in the West Africa region and around company assets - Participate in the definition of the security strategy
Manage the regional exploration security program within the region
Coordinate residential, offices’ and expatriates’ security programs, maintain evacuation plans
Manage the regional travel risk management program (visitors, employees, VIPs, etc.)
Plan and coordinate intelligence gathering activities within the region. Develop a varied network and draw factual analyses and actions to be taken
Inform and advise the management team and the functional security chain on the security situation, threats, risks and vulnerabilities that may have an impact on the conduct of business
Build and update risk mitigation action plans, supervises and supports the implementation of projects and report on progress
As the Crisis Management Coordinator for operations in West Africa, ensure crisis preparedness, proper crisis management and continuity within incident response teams and security departments
Monitor incident response and manage crisis coordination during absences of Essakane Site Security Manager
Maintain communication with government representatives, law enforcement, security forces, embassies, and other companies
Participate in the security design and the protection of the company’s new projects
Organize and participate in audits, quality assurance missions and major security investigations
Coordinate training and security risk awareness sessions

Key Area: Supervise the administration of regional security services:

Duties:
Lead a multidisciplinary and multi-cultural team, promote initiative, responsibility, teamwork and respect for each other
Manage resources (personnel, budget, assets) within the regional security department including dedicated exploration security teams
Actively participate in the development and implementation of National succession plan within the department
Review staffing requirements, participate in the recruitment, provide employees with clear work objectives, development plans and conduct performance reviews
Chair regular regional security committee meetings and follow through on action items
Promote and ensure responsible and effective practices within security departments, including governance, resource management, integrity, respect of IAMGOLD general and security policies, regulations and human rights. Investigate and report possible violations
Ensure equipment, vehicles and security systems are operational in the area of responsibility (exploration, offices, residences)
Participate in the choice and evaluation of security and investigations providers and consultants
Promote and ensure the application of Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights (VPSHR) within all security activities

Qualifications
What we look for:
Tertiary Qualification in Security and Crisis Management or equivalent working experience
Minimum 10 years of related field experience including high risk countries
Ability to analyse risks, understand industrial activities, devise strategies and tactics
Experienced in working with business executives, political and security authorities
Experience in solving complex problems using method and a pragmatic approach
Experience with security technology
Ability to manage activities, budgets and resources
