Medical Training Manager / HSE Lead , Iraq

Location:Basra, Iraq (BP ROO) 

Engagement : Full-time, rotation 6 weeks on / 6 weeks off
Manager Project Security Manager (PSM) 

Job purpose
The Medical Training manager / HSE lead is responsible for organising and overseeing the induction, training with continuation training and testing for all operators and clients within the project. He will ensure that the project meets the operational and medical training standards and fully complies with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and approach.
He will liaise with client HSE representatives, represent Company at HSE forums and ensure the effective delivery of the organization HSE plan with the support and guidance of the Control Risks HSE Manager and Supervisor. 

Tasks and responsibilities

To ensure and deliver medical training and continuation training and test. 
To ensure and deliver medical training and continuation training and test.
Provide and create medical training package as continuation training for medics on the project.
Training of local nationals on teams to meet specified FAW standards.
Act as point of reference for any medical related issues and development package. 

To deliver effective, project specific HSE 
 Act as the focal point for all Armed Protective Teams with the health and safety manager.
Supervise and monitor daily toolbox talks, team safety briefs and ensure the weekly safety focus is delivered and adhered to.
Assist the HSE Manager and Supervisor Iraq in the reporting of health and safety incidents.
Assist in the delivery of both organization and ROO health and safety training, best practice and initiatives.
Assist the Project Security Manager in all project safety concerns in the absence of the health and safety manager / Supervisor.
Assist the health and safety department in inspections and audits (if required).
Develop a solid understanding of ROO HSE policies, procedures and the organization project HSE Plan.

Management Responsibilities
To conduct effective medical training in line with organization  Training directives.
Maintaining a professional approach, appropriate client etiquette, discipline and presentation.
To manage the administrative process to include; medical kit awareness, maintenance, equipment husbandry/accountability and reports and returns.

Operational Responsibilities
Assist in the conduct of risk assessments for specified operations.
Issue orders to team members and brief clients in line with SOPs when required.
Conduct venue reconnaissance and produce venue reports on medical issues.

Knowledge and experience 
Minimum of seven (7) years’ experience in a police TFU or military force with overseas experience as a medic. May be former Commonwealth Military Forces or Police Service.
Minimum of three (3) years’ post qualification experience in a medical setting.
Minimum of two (2) years of front-line medical experience.
English Speaker.


Essential
Must be familiar with and comfortable using the Microsoft Office programs.
Minimum of two (2) years’ post qualification front line medical experience.

Preferred
Minimum of seven (7) years’ regular military experience as a medic.
3 operational tours in a hostile environment.
Ex-military JNCO or equivalent.
Training in leadership skills and performance management.
Knowledge of and exposure to the oil and gas sector.\
Knowledge and exposure to the formulation and delivery of effective HSE.

Qualifications and specialist skills

Essential
HCPC or HPCSA registered Paramedic / Nurse / Combat medical Technician
Class 1, with a in date ALS (UK) or ACLS (US) qualified and PHTLS or ITLS
IOSH
Understanding and experience in the application of HSE processes and procedures

Preferred
PTTLS for teaching in the lifelong sector qualified.
