Job Description
(This position will be located near Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo)

The main task is to ensure the compliance with the alignments, plans and protection programs, care and control of the company’s facilities, this, by the supervision and assessment of the tasks carried out by the personnel, in order to assure the protection and safety of the workers and the facilities.
Plan, develop and assess safety and protection programs. Keep measurable statistics.
Supervise the security guards’ compliance with the plans and safety and protection programs.
Guide the personnel under their supervision in order to carry out the safety and protection procedures for the human resources and equipment of the company.
Produce statistics of the accidents that have occurred and propose flexible action plans.
Coordinate the activities related to the safety and protection of the people and tangible goods with other management areas or units.
Comply with the norms and procedures regarding a comprehensive safety established by the organization.
Manage Industrial Safety and Internal Technologies contracts.
Ensure compliance to FCPA, Voluntary Principles to Security and Human rights, and accepted international protocols in the security arena.
Advise, communicate, and assist in formulation of company policy on security related matters.
Develop and routinely update a five-year operating plan for the Security group, and provide annual updates to site leadership team.
Plan and forecast changing force structure requirements in response to changing threats and operational plans.
Ensure coordination of the overall security effort between key parties (Operations, Contract security, and government authorities).
Promote security awareness within company leadership, and ensure integration of security planning in business processes.
Plan for emergency preparedness contingencies and function as an advisor to the crisis management team as required.
Evaluate and provide recommendations on integration of key technologies in support of the security mission.
Ensure coordination and liaison with internal functions including operations, legal, human resources, and community development.
Ensure implementation of a Loss Control program.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree, higher education or similar studies.
Five (5) years of work experience in similar duties.
Must be fluent in French.
Meet the legal requirements to be certified as a Security Chief before the inspection authorities.
Knowledge of matters related to protection, private and public security and goods.
Driver’s license.
Intermediate level of English.

Preferred Qualifications
Ten (10) to fifteen (15) years of work experience in similar duties.
Have a proactive attitude and be committed to the safety, occupational health and environment.
Be capable of adapting to changes, improve continuously and work in a team environment.
Negotiation and adaptation skills.
An ability to solve complicated, multi-faceted problems with ethnic and cultural undercurrents.
An ability to cultivate meaningful intelligence regarding strikes, terrorist actions, and other activities that impact upon company operations and to formulate and implement operations plans to address these threats safely and effectively.
Understand and be able to conduct security-related risk assessments, and develop and implement action plans.
Understanding industrial relations principles to address internal theft, and the impact of labor negotiations on operational continuity.
Maintaining public relations with the Freeport-McMoRan community, select government personnel (security forces and others), and local leaders.
Overcoming factors relating to language, cultural differences, inexperience, and a lack of training among security forces.
Knowledge or experience with DRC police doctrine and organization structure.
