Coordinate and support all aspects of the DRC Safety Risk Management system (SRMS) for both DRC and DDG programmes within Afghanistan.
Main responsibilities
Safety Risk Management:
Support the oversight of the Safety Risk Management (SRM) process;
Develop area and country safety management policies, protocols and procedures;
Facilitate Safety Risk Assessments (SRAs) and support the implementation of mitigation measures;
Analyze, manage and report relevant information within geographical area of responsibility in conjunction with safety and programme colleagues;
Support the maintenance of relevant safety documentation, data and records for the areas of concern
Develop the capacity of, and coordinate, relevant Incident Management Teams (IMTs)
Technically advise on the procurement of safety-related equipment, facilities and other resources.
Support the development and implementation of the DRC Afghanistan Access strategy.
Represent DRC at security forums as required.
Access Planning:
Develop access strategies in collaboration with DRC and DDG programme teams;
Deliver tools and training necessary to operationalize access strategies;
Support and quality check ongoing access assessments and other interventions as needed.
Training, supervision and support:
Support and deliver safety-related training;
Provide technical support to local safety staff as required;
Facilitate surge support to IMTs as required.
Technical Line Management Responsibilities
Provide technical guidance and support to other Employees in same technical area, who report to a different Manager as required;
Advise on and promote understanding and application of DRC policies, procedures and principles;
Raise issues of non-compliance to CD/SMT;
When relevant, drives development of policies and standards in region or country and/or localizes global policies to regional or country level.

About you
To be successful in this role we expect you to consider the following bullet points and fulfil the criteria. Moreover, we also expect the following:
Minimum 5 years of working experience as a safety and security manager/adviser with an INGO;
Experience working in multicultural work settings;
Proven ability to develop and implement effective and contextualized protocols and systems;
Experience with information gathering, analysis and report writing;
Ability to conduct and produce high quality safety risk assessments (SRAs);
Experience with critical incident management;
Experience with delivering safety-related training;
Experience working in hostile or hazardous environments;
Full professional proficiency in English.
