Political Analyst , Basra

We now invite applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates to apply for this role on an Aegis project in Basra, Southern Iraq start date Dec 18.

Hiring Criteria
* Military experience obligatory.
* Private Security Company along with Oil and Gas industry experience and Arabic language skills desirable.

* An understanding of intelligence processes and sound knowledge of Iraq, particularly its political dynamics.
* The ability to produce coherent, logical written (and oral) briefs together with the ability to produce accurate and timely analysis at both strategic and tactical level and apply intellectual rigor to this analysis.
* Possess briefing ability to Managing Director level.
* Must be able to work under pressure, both independently and as part of a team, while maintaining the integrity and quality of the product.
* Must possess excellent interpersonal skills that are underpinned with good IT skills, to include at the very least Microsoft Office and other standard applications and have the ability to appropriately supervise and direct Iraqi staff and to interact with management
* Be in possession of a clean police criminal records check.
* Must Possess In date frontline SIA license (or equivalent from country of origin).

Job Duties
The Aegis Political Analyst is responsible for conducting analysis of all things political in Iraq, including, but not limited to, policies, personalities, parties/alliances and proposed and current legislation and how these impact the operating environment which could affect, or otherwise influence commercial operations across Iraq. This analysis is focused on giving a clear picture of the political environment in order to allow project staff and management to make informed decisions.

* Required to produce a written summary and brief the senior management group on a weekly basis.
* Provide special reports on forthcoming events or major issues (e.g. elections).
* Maintain and manage information relevant to key personalities.
* Monitor international as well as Iraqi and regional Arabic media/websites.
* Maintain commonality of process with other Aegis/GW information departments while still meeting client requirements.
* Liaise with other PSCs and any other relevant agencies and organizations.
* Perform any other tasks and duties not mentioned above as directed by Project management.




Daily rate

Aegis will offer competitive day rate (only paid whilst on-duty) Contractor will not be reimbursed whilst off-duty *Some tax may be payable locally to those hired in Iraq on non-US Government contracts.

Rotation

6 weeks on, 6 weeks off, subject to operational requirements

Travel Pay

Contractors are not entitled to pay while travelling. You will be paid a half day rate on the first day you arrive in Theatre. You will not be paid on the day you depart from Theatre.

Package

Aegis will provide the Independent Contractor with housing, food and transportation while you are in Theatre along with insurances

Visa Requirements

The fee for stamping the multiple entry visa into the passport upon arrival at the airport will be borne solely by the Contractor. The approximate cost for this transaction is US$100.

Flight Package

Aegis will provide an economy class return ticket per rotation to the project location from a hub airport as close as reasonably practicable to the Contractor’s declared home address.

The Contractor will be asked to declare their preferences for a primary, secondary and tertiary hub airport from the Aegis hub list at the commencement of their engagement. Where possible and commercially acceptable, Aegis will look to book travel to and from one of the preferred hubs.

The Contractor will be responsible for any travel arrangements between the hub airport and their home address.
