Role overview
You will work in a small Global support team reporting directly to the Director of Safety and Security. You will be responsible for overseeing the risk assessment and management of staff and volunteers, working closely with senior managers and in-country programme staff. You will be monitoring risk and helping to ensure that VSO remains within its risk appetite. When unexpected events happen, you will be supporting crisis management teams and providing safety and security advice and direction. There will be an expectation for you to travel periodically in order to support staff or further assess mission critical areas. You will be expected to work out of hours occasionally and cover an emergency phone through a team roster.
Skills, qualifications and experience
The ideal applicant should be a safety and security professional with overseas experience and able to demonstrate that they have worked in challenging environments. The applicant will need to be able to demonstrate, through a series of online and face to face (video) exercises during the recruitment process, that they can work under pressure and within a tight timeline. Ideally the applicant should have previously worked in an INGO safety and security role. The applicant must be able to travel abroad and work in challenging environments.
