Advisor Security and Business Resilience – Africa

We are looking for an Advisor Security and Business Resilience for Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) to implement security and business resilience strategies supporting business objectives at asset (site) level, Regionally for EMEA.

This role is a great opportunity to collaborate with the Group Security and Business Resilience Area of Expertise (AoE) and the Manager, Security and Business Resilience – EMEA on implementation of the Security and Business resilience programmes in EMEA with focus on:
Risk based, simple, standardized processes

Incorporation of business size, scale and organisation design

What the role entails
Reporting to the Manager, Security and Business Resilience – EMEA, you will:
Work with peers (Assets, AoE) to ensure implementation of the security and business resilience governance
Assess security and business resilience risks and capabilities, and drive improvement initiatives across assets in Europe, Middle East and Africa
Provide advice and guidance to assets in Europe, Middle East and Africa regarding security and business resilience best practices; supporting plan development and execution
Support the delivery of programme assurance and facilitate health checks of assets
Build networks and partnerships through internal/external associations (e.g. industry peers)
Work toward building independence of capability within the assets (through training, coaching, etc. of the persons responsible for security at asset level)
Be required to travel to various countries for periods of 1 to two weeks at a time.

What you will need for this role

To succeed in this role, you will have:
You may not have a criminal record or have or any previous disciplinary actions involving criminal activities.
A minimum of 8 Years Police/Military experience holding the minimum rank of Sargent/Captain
Minimum 8 years of experience in the operational application of a security and crisis management programme in the private sector. Experience in the Mining and extractive industry would desirable.
Experience in a regional portfolio role operating across multiple regions and cultural influences in Europe, Middle East and Africa regions.
Experience in environments where third parties conduct work on behalf of the organisation (e.g. Engineering, procurement, and construction management (EPCM))
Ability to operationalise standards and procedures and tailor service requirements to meet the business need
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of study would be desirable. Alternatively an internationally recognised security management qualification covering security, crisis management, risk management, law, criminology, etc.
Advanced communication, facilitation, and influencing skills
Fluent in English (French is desirable)
Must have excellent report writing skills and be proficient in Office (Excel, word and Power point)
You will be required to travel to country’s that require Yellow fever certification as well as certain inoculations. You will be required to have no medical conditions which restrict your ability to travel to these required countries. You must be medically fit and able to travel extensively.
You must be able to travel extensively and expect to spend approximately 30-40% of your work time away from home during work related travels.
