The Security Risk Management (SRM) in Burkina Faso aims to minimize the security risks faced by employees in their environment, while at the same time allowing for freedom of movement in the country, given the situation.
Security risk management, including the analysis and assessment of security risks, together with technical measures, are designed to ensure the physical and mental integrity of employees and to assist them in the secure performance of International Cooperation (IZ) tasks in a volatile environment. The task of the Security Risk Adviser (m / f) is to advise employees at the various project locations on security risk management issues.
Your tasks
As a Security Risk Advisor, your task is to implement, maintain and continuously develop a
professional security risk management system (SRMS) at the site of operations or in the operational region in order to adapt it as best as possible to local or regional context conditions.
They continuously analyze the security situation at the place of deployment or in the region in general and in the project locations in particular, collect and assess safety-relevant information and classify it in the context of development cooperation;
They provide security risk, conflict and stakeholder analysis, regular security reports, district profiles and other search materials, as well as incident reports;
You are responsible for all aspects of day-to-day operational security risk management in a context of significant risk, including during any emergency and evacuation scenarios. You will also be in contact with a variety of stakeholders, including local and national authorities, as well as international governmental and non-governmental organizations;
They inform the employees about the changing security situation and implement directives to protect the employees;
In case of crisis you support the national management in crisis management. Advice on security-relevant structural changes and valuations of office and private properties in terms of property protection round off your task profile.
Your profile
Based on a university degree in security risk management, crisis management, regional or political science or equivalent, they have several years of relevant experience in security risk management in development cooperation in crisis regions;
Comprehensive experience in setting up and implementing security risk management concepts in development cooperation or in humanitarian aid is indispensable;
Military or police experience is neither necessary nor sufficient, but may provide added value when combined with work experience in security risk management. Good knowledge of the processes and actors of German development cooperation, especially in contexts characterized by fragility and violence are desirable. Implementation experience and knowledge of conflict-sensitive approaches and concepts are desirable;
In addition to their professional background they have a strong analytical and conceptual understanding as well as excellent presentation skills. You work systematically, independently and can make decisions under high pressure and support and accompany the implementation;
Furthermore, you have distinctive consulting skills that enable you to persuasively convey the relevance of on-site security risk management to an internal and external audience.
Fluent French skills are required.
