United Nations Antimonical Action Service (UNMAS)

UNMAS deployed to Mali in January 2013 to carry out an emergency assessment of the situation with regard to explosive threats, in support of United Nations Security Council Resolution 2085 (2012). In July 2013, the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA) was established by Security Council Resolution 2100 and is currently operated by Security Council Resolution 2364 (2017). In accordance with these mandates, the United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS) has engaged UNOPS to implement a mine action program in Mali. The UNMAS Mine Action Program in Mali seeks to:
Reduce the explosive threat to MINUSMA and UN personnel;
Strengthen national capacities to mitigate explosive threats and enable compliance with international treaty obligations;
Improve the protection of civilians.

Summary of responsibilities

Under the overall supervision of the UNMAS Mali Capacity Building Project Manager, and the direct supervision of the WAM - Weapons and Ammunition Management Advisor, the instructor supports the development of the capacity of the DRC Defense and Security Forces. Mali (FDSM) in terms of management and security of stocks of weapons and ammunition and, as such, he / she is in charge of the management, implementation, and delivery of training in this field of activity (WAM ).
Implementation of the training plan, issuance and follow-up of WAM training;
Operational and logistical support;
Knowledge management and innovation.

Training
Master's degree (or equivalent) with less than 5 years experience in a relevant field, or Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) with at least 7 years of experience in the relevant field. Military training with 11 years of relevant experience is required.
Military officer or non-commissioned officer (all defense and security forces will be considered).

Professional experience
Relevant experience refers to experience in the field of managing and securing stockpiles of weapons and ammunition;
At least 2 years of experience in the field of training in the management and security of weapons and ammunition stocks is required;
Military experience is required;
At least 2 years of practical experience with international recommendations / standards in the field of management and security of weapons and ammunition stockpiles (IATGs, ISACs, AASTP etc.) is required;
Prior experience in a United Nations peacekeeping mission, particularly in the area of ​​DDR (Demobilization, Disarmament and Reintegration) is an asset;
Prior experience in Africa, particularly in the area of ​​counseling and training is an asset;
At least one year of experience with Microsoft Office is required.

Language
Perfect mastery of French (read-spoken-written) is required;
Basic level of English (read-spoken-written) is required.
