Tier 2 Medic , Iraq

Location: Basra  Iraq

Engagement Short term contract, 3 – 6 months (may become permanent)

Job purpose 
The Tier 2 Medic is a Health Care Professional trained and experienced in the
provision of both primary and emergency health care. They will be expected to provide
a high standard of primary health and advanced emergency medical care up to and
including Advanced Life Support, to the population on site, including employees,
contractors and subcontractors. Emergency Response planning in cases where the
patient needs to be transferred to secondary or tertiary care.
As well as this role being Tier 2 Medic focused the individual should also be qualified to
Team Leader level and be content with this role should there be no business requirement for a Tier 2 role.

Tasks and responsibilities
Provide Emergency and Primary Health Care medical response.
To partake in the Medical Continued Professional Development and training
programme as directed by the Clinical Governance Manager, Iraq.
Responsible for the care and maintenance of the Tier 2 medical equipment in their charge.
Carry out medical training to CMT 5 standards for CR Employees within the team.
To act as the Deputy Team Leader within an Armed Personnel Team.
Understand and demonstrate competence in  Standard Operation
Procedures.
Demonstrate client etiquette, discipline and adoption of  low profile approach.
Understand the key threats to security in Iraq, specifically Basra.
Be fully conversant and comply with the Rules of Engagement.
Help conduct effective medical training in line with  directives as defined by the Clinical Governance Manager.
Assist in the conduct of Emergency Response planning
Brief clients in line with SOPs.
Conduct operational tasks as directed by the Operations Manager and Project Security Manager.
To partake in the Mandatory Annual Training programme in accordance with the Training Policy.

Knowledge and experience Essential
A minimum of 3 years’ experience in pre-hospital, remote and acute care.
Fluent in written and spoken English.
Computer literate and competent in Microsoft Office.
10 years minimum military or law enforcement service
2 years’ experience working in a hostile environment such as Iraq or Afghanistan.

Qualifications and specialist skills
Essential

Please note that the following qualifications will only be accepted if delivered and
accredited by certain providers. More information is provided upon receipt of your
application. Medical documents and certificates will be screened by the Clinical
Governance Manager, SIA qualifications will be screened by the Operations Manager.

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or equivalent
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) provided by the American College of Physicians or the American Heart Association or the Advanced Life Support (ALS) certificate provided by the UK/European Resuscitation Council No 100% online course accepted .

Registration / Qualification – minimal HSE Offshore Medic*, HCPC / HCPCSA

Registered Paramedic, NAREMT or RCN Registered Nurse.

*If you hold the HSE Offshore Medic qualification you must also be able to prove that you have served as a CMT1, LMA or Class 1 Medic RAF.

Close Protection qualification from an accredited provider (BTEC Level III and above).

SIA licence

Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) or equivalent.

Support (ATLS) training and certification may be required.

Competencies  Problem solving skills suitable for a complex and fast-moving professional
environment.
